Just read on whowon.com about what happened at McAllen

Not good. Too many drove too far to get treated like that

Go to whowon.com then click on forums and go to the modifieds page. Pretty interesting, there are people wanting the promoters head. See it isn't just Ain't Fair Speedway.lol

No, stuff occurs at most racetracks but when it appears to hit home then there are some that think the world is fixing to come to an end. Bad deal down in McAllen, if not for the ice and snow here then I would have headed down there for the Saturday night finale. Thank goodness for mother nature.

You need to be careful over there ccc, they aren't afraid to fire back at you.

We just got back.

The two days they raced there was some great racing! Things were shaping up for an exciting feature!

Its too bad the final day was cancelled. It was like driving 12 hrs to watch a movie, only getting to see 2/3rds of it, and never knowing how it was suppose to end.

As they are saying over on WhoWon.com what is really frustrating is the fact that no attempt was made to even try and run it. It drizzled off and on all day Saturday and over night so it was a little wet but I honestly believe that with a little work the race could have been ran as I've seen the promoter of the Longhorn Round-up in Greenville, TX get his show in, in much worse conditions several times in the past. As iam57j stated too many drove too far to not make at least some effort to get the show in.

Its a sad deal. Whether the promoter's decision was the right one to make or not I don't know. All I can say is that from the way it sounds people aren't happy. I just hope that his decision this year doesn't kill this race that has been around for over 15 years.

careful over where Dave? I have no ambition about gettin in on that squabble. That kinda happened to us up at Knoxville 360 Nat a few years ago before they put the So. Iowa sprintweek all together. It was sad b/c they could have run it the next day (Sunday) as there wasn't anything going on anywhere else. They postponed it that year to coincide with 410 Nat. So we never saw the finale. That was just one of them things that can happen in this sport. The thing down at McAllen sounds a bit different and that really sucks for all those who made the trip.

Damn Dave I think most over in the general sprint forum aren't too afraid to fire back either. Makes no difference to me. I just give my opinions the same as anyone else would. Hoseheads are the only forums I POST in anyhow.

Besides you can't get me that riled up over modifieds. (No offense to any mod fans). BTW Dogwater sorry you didn't get your money's worth man. At least now you can look forward to the TMS race, which ya'll need to give me info on when you get it as it sounds like somthin worth seeing.

I can tell you, Dogwater, about a race we watched at Greenville in our rookie year of racing (2000). We went for our birthdays (both in Feb.) for the 2 day show. It was colder than all get out so we bought a sleeping bag to cover up with besides all our coats and gloves, etc. The Sun. show was run with at least an inch of snow on the ground, 22* and north winds (right in our faces) at least 35-40 mph, (we even bought a second sleeping bag!!) Many of the people in the stands had little propane heaters at their feet.

We wouldn't give up and leave till they handed the winner the $10,000 check...don't know if I would do that again!

The Longhorn Round-up in Greenville is a great race! I've been going since 2003. We had plans to attend this year (seems like last year since it was so early in the season) but the big ice storm that hit the area made the race impossible to run. The promoter of that show does everything he can to get his show in. I've seen it run in some really bad conditions. For example in 2005 it rained off and on Friday night and Saturday night. Did that stop the promoter? No. He got the show in each night even though sometimes it meant stopping the race for 15-30 min intervals until the rain stopped. Once the rain let up he would send all the cars onto the track to roll it in until it was ready to race. Only to have to repeat the same process later on in the night when it rained again. Thats what I call a die hard promoter!

Like you guys we toughed it out. We sat in the stands in the cold and rain. Ha ha. The race always is an endurance test for the fans and I imagine the drivers too. I look forward to it every year! Its a great way to kick off the new racing season!

Btw, we've been wanting to get one those little propane heaters. They look like they would help.

cool. I would begin to make plans but Chili Bowl comes first. Remember all of 4 of their wheels are open not just 2. LOL You need to to have some family get you some mod racing tapes so the off-season won't be so long.

I'm not sure. They use to have them on sale on XtremeSuperNationals.com but I see now there is nothing there but the XSN logo. Greg Moore might know if there are still any DVDs available.

I have tried to email Greg about this but he hasn't answered my email. I will try emailing Timms as him or his parents might have extra to sell if there are any to be sold. I want a copy of that too, of course I would have to buy a DVD player but still....
