Big Race = Big Entries for $30,000 to Win Ultimate Challenge!

(Bill W) July 11, 2007 – The pre-entries for this year's "One Night Stand for 30 Grand" are building, as is the excitement! This year's Searsboro Ultimate Challenge promises to be one of the most unique of all-time, as drivers from several drivers from different series and different disciplines will tangle at the Southern Iowa Speedway in Oskaloosa, Iowa on Tuesday, August 7. Some serious cash will be on the line, as will a number of contingencies from the fine sponsors of the event!

Defending race champion, Jerry Coons Jr. leads the list of pre-entries. Coons won this event last year driving the legendary Hoffman #69. He is joined on the pre-entry list by Tony Stewart Racing teammates, 2005 USAC sprint champion Levi Jones, and 2007 Midget Nationals champion Ricky Stenhouse Jr. Stenhouse is no stranger to wing or non-wing fans, as the 19 year old has won in the past in winged 360 and 410 cars, and in all three USAC series this season (Sprint, Silver Crown, Midget)!

Perennial favorites and legends of sprint car racing, Dave Darland of Indiana and Cory "Kruser" Kruseman of California have also thrown their hat in the ring. Even World of Outlaws regular, Brooke Tatnell, has thrown his hat in the ring to take to the track for the very first time without a "lid"! Brady Short, Brad Sweet and Charles Davis Jr. are just a few of many more entered, who will be rolling three-wide through the turns in Osky!

The popular "Sprint Bandit" format will be used again in this year's UC! Instead of qualifying, heats and qualifiers will be run. After passing points are determined through the heats, a set of qualifiers will be run, inverting the top six in points in each from the heats. The high point-getters from the heats and qualifiers combined will start the main event, while the rest will go to the B. The winners of each qualifier will receive a new rear-end!

A few more surprise entries as well as some "special guests" are expected, so don't miss out! This always seems to be a place that the stars of auto racing align, so bring your Sharpie too!

Kudos to McTwo for dumping the time trial format in favor of something much more entertaining.

Too bad Knoxville wouldn't drop time trials and follow the same format.
