Just checked out Devils Bowl Speedways website and noticed they have added the limited modifieds (IMCA/SIMS) type rules.

Thats a good move on Lanny's part. There is a ton of them things down there. I have taken my mod to several shows in Texas and the sims either equal or outnumber the full blown mods at almost every track. They are not much more expensive than a factory stock.

You're right it is a good business move on Lanny's part. The class is very popular in Tx.
In your post you touched on two of the reasons why I don't particularly care for the class.
1.) "They are not much more expensive than a factory stock."
Thats because, from my understanding, they (Sims/IMCA Southern Sport Mods) are not much different than factory/street
stocks. Excluding appearance,
they seem to have more in common with factories/streets than they
do with actual modifieds. Part of the reason for low car counts in many classes today is that there are too many classes and too many tracks. Do we really need another factory/street
class?
2.) "the sims either equal or outnumber the full blown mods."
I'm a modified fan. So this is something I don't like to see. Ha ha. It seems that whenever a track introduces the limited mods their modified car count begins to drop and in some cases it even begins to suffer. The lower budget mod drivers move down... and instead of moving up to the modifieds the factory/street drivers move to the limiteds.
I'm not going to lie and say that I've never seen limited modifieds put on a good show. I've seen some pretty good races at some of the big modified shows I've gone to in Texas... granted there are usually a lot modified drivers doing double duty. Most of the limited races I have seen around here however (excluding Muskogee's E-mods) have been been pretty dull w/ a lot of cautions. I realize that every driver/team puts alot of time and money in thier cars and I don't mean to knock anyone but that is just my opinion on the class.

I'm not sure I'm as much in tune with mods as I'm sure you are. But I have to comment. I've never seen limited modifieds put on a good show. I know they do in many places and I guess I just never was at the right place at the right time. In my opinion Factory stocks (REAL factory stocks - NOT like the ones in OKC) put on a much better show than limiteds. I hope and pray this doesn't mean Lanny will try this class in OKC if the pro stocks are booted sometime this year.

Chadd, yes he does. We run on a limited budget like most guys around here so we do everything ourselves that we can so we put our money where we need to.
