I'm going to be returning to Tucson from a business trip toBoston next week and will be in the Indianapolis area Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights (June 28, 29, and 30). Looking at what's available I'm considering (weather permitting of course) the sprint car show at Bloomington Speedway Friday night (meeting old friends for lunch in Martinsville earlier that day) and either the sprint car show at Lincoln Park Saturday night or the USAR Hooters Cup stock cars (probably a bad term on this website) Saturday night. I would like to see Salem from a historical standpoint but the sprint cars would be a lot closer to the Indianapolis airport for a Sunday morning flight back to Tucson. Any comments about or recommendations relativ to my choices?
If I'm successful in adding two more tracks, that will take my total of tracks I've attended to 56. Seems like a lot but it's definitely not given the number of tracks a lot of you have attended. Of course we don't enjoy the large number of tracks in Arizona that are available in places like Indiana and Iowa.

If you have never been to Salem, you should check it out. Super high banks at 33 or 36 degrees. The Hooters Cup series runs Nascar Nextel Cup style cars on short tracks and they put on a decent show. Winchester is another track everyone should see in their lifetime. They have a winged sprint show in July that is friggn' wild. Cameron Dodson has won the past few years.

Stay up a bit later and go to Lawrenceburg on Saturday night. Its a bit further drive from the airport, but more worth it that going to Putnamville.

Yeah, Bloomington is fantastic. Too bad that you can't stay long enough to catch the Sunday show at Kokomo. I would take a sick day on Monday and go (if I was up there, of course).

Thanks for the comments and recommendations. I grew up in Indiana so the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and the Fairgrounds were early races. After moving to California I got back in the 60s for a sprint car race at what used to be called Indianapolis Raceway Park and I caught a SCRA race at Terre Haute a number of years ago on one of their annual tours before USAC screwed that operation up.
I am leaning towards Bloomington on Friday night and Salem on Saturday night. Salem is more from a historical standpoint as I really prefer non-wing sprint cars on short tracks.
Again thanks for all of your inputs. Given the plethora of racing in Indiana, I can see another stop in Indianapolis on the way back to Tucson from an East Coast business trip.
I've seen that Billy Boat's 15 year old son Chad has been running at Bloomington. Hopefully he'll be there. I saw Billy turn the only sub 18 second qualifying lap at Ascot Park in Gardena, CA during qualifying for the last ever sprint car show there.

I spoke with Billy back in May (at Bloomington). He said that they were going to be running all the non-USAC shows that they can for 6 weeks. Besides Bloomington, he I saw him (Chad, that is) race at Kokomo and Haubstadt. Billy also told me that the were running at Lawrenceburg. I don't know if they are still running up there.
I have a couple of pictures posted in the gallery.
