POINT LEADER TIM BROWN GETS FIRST EVER CLS MAIN EVENT WIN!

(Placentia, CA, August 31, 2011) Fresh off a season worse 13th place DNF finish the week before at Perris Auto Speedway, California Lighting Sprint Car Series point leader Tim Brown notched his first ever CLS win at Chris Kearns Santa Maria Speedway last Saturday night. The victory may have allowed the Wildomar, California resident to start writing the final chapter in his season championship book.

Brown, 51, who is contesting his fourth season in the CLS, looked like a strong candidate for the win the previous week at The PAS. He was steaming his towards the front of the pack, but a tangle with a lapped car out him out for the night, Heading into the Perris race, he had only finished worse than fifth one time all season long and that was a ninth at Santa Maria on May 14th when he missed the set up on the car. That made last week's win on the Chris Kearns' promoted third of a mile clay track that much sweeter.

Brown bested Corona's Darren Hillberg, teenage sensation Kevin Michnowicz of Lomita, defending series champion Jarrett Kramer and impressive Corona rookie Stephon Limon in the 20-lap, 14-car main event. The victory allowed Brown to extend his points lead to a commanding 171 advantage over Kramer with just four point paying races remaining on the 2011 schedule. Kramer's second half resurgence continued with another top five finish. For Hillberg, who had his car stolen from in front of his house just after the new year, he has climbed all the way to sixth in the standings after scoring his first ever main event win at Perris on July 2nd.

Before the main event, Hillberg and Anaheim Hills veteran Guy Maresch won the heat races.

The CLS will take a couple of weeks off before heading to Victorville Raceway Park for the second time in 2011 on September 17th.
