For all you Tony Stewart fans take this as you may but I got a chance to see the real Tony Stewart tonight. . I will start off by saying that Tony is a piece of CRAP!!!!! When you treat your fans the way that he did tonight it makes people wonder why people even support him. I heard him tell several people that he would not give them autographs or take the time to get a picture with him, He said to one person that the autograph session was earlier and he missed out . The thing is this and some of you wont agree and thats fine with me . I know that when you are that popular that you do get tired of catering to peoples wants and wishes. But when you come back to race at a place where fans very rarely get to see you in person I think that you need to take a little extra time with these fans. These are the fans that made Tony Stewart who he is today And this is my opinion. I used to like Tony Stewart As a dirt tracker and nascar driver but now I think he is the biggest piece of crap . I am OK with the fact that he didn't have time for me. But when you say that you dont have time for a young child or someone that idolizes you then that is just wrong.

Joe,

Common now,... let us know how you really feel. Actually I think piece of crap is putting it politley. I am and have been for a few years AMAZED that home depot puts up with the public image that he portries. he is an ASS. John Force is a perfect example of how a a sports figure should conduct himself in regards to his fans. As a driver I could not emagine being to busy to sign an autograph for a young fan. I GUARENTEE Tony would have had time to sign an autograph for a hot blonde showing a bunch of clevage. Piece of crap??? yes,. and a jerk, a pig an ass and,.. a cry baby.

I had a face to face encounter with Tony at the Copper World several years ago. I asked him the same question that I have asked many other drivers. "Did you bring lots of go fast with you todoy". Tony stood in my face and said "What the F*** do you think I'm here for a$$****?". I was a fan and it hurt to be talked to that way. I only wished that a potential sponsor had heard him talk that way to me. At the same event I asked dave Blaney the same question and he thought about it and told me of what problems they were working on fixing with his Silver Crown car.

Ah, Dave Blaney. Another one for the "Class Act" category. Dave has more class than Stewart ever hoped to have.

Joe, without calling you names like piece of crap, I have to tell you, you are 100% wrong about Tony and any other driver that comes to the race track to get the job done. There is a time and place for everything, and by reading your post it makes me think that A.) your not a success in life and B.) you lack common sense. I walked by the Stewart pits, gave him a wave and got a nod back, if he took 30 seconds to sign an autograph for every person that asked (the pits during a race is not social hour by the way) he would spend his night with a pen instead of a wrench. And as far as "we made him what he is", did you have your butt in the seat flipping down the backstraight at 'race track USA' ? He and every other driver that has stood in victory lane made thier own success. My personal Merry Christmas goes out to the Tony Stewart that has spent millions on funding teams for guys like Josh Wise, Cory Kruseman etc. Also, to the same Tony Stewart that gives millions to charity to help the kids that don't have the chance to get on a message board and call him a piece of crap. Joe, you may be a nice guy but your out of line on this one. Please for every driver that gets hounded at every turn, (I've seen drivers asked for an autograph in the bathroom), reconsider your priorities while the drivers are at the track to do the job they are paid to do by the other fans that pay to see a race. And ask your self the question "are you ready to go fast tonight" and sign your name on a scrap of paper 3,000 times in one night and post back here if you got tired of it.

Justwondering

You can say what you like thats fine with me. As for being successful and common sense no I dont make millions of dollars but at least I know how to treat people. As to the remark did we make him what he is by putting our butts in a seat of a car flipping down some backstrait at USA park what the hell does that have to do with him being a success ??? Just so you know not all of us get a chance to know tony stewart the way that you do.Maybe he is one hell of a nice guy once you get to know him. I want you to know I think that tony is a very talented driver and a damn good one . And about him giving money to fund race teams and Charities hey that is really great . This kid that asked for his autograpgh was after the races not during the race and I think that was just plain wrong but who am I to say that Because I lack common sense and I'm not succesful.

Justwondering if I offended you then I'm sorry . Tony not taking the time to take a picture for me hey that is fine I'm a grown man I can except that . But to tell the kid that well that kinda sucks for that kid thats all I'm trying to say. As for calling him a piece of crap thats just the way that I felt about the whole deal.

Joe, I have never met Tony Stwart, don't know him and would never interupt him at the race track and interfere with his precious time. My point is that he has done more for Sprint Car racing than ALMOST any other driver in history. People in general get tired of the same old routine, where do you draw the line? Maybe his reaction rubbed you wrong, but think about what this guy does for our sport, do you really think he is a piece of crap? Guys like Jeff Gordon (nice guy) don't get called names because they are not at the local short track giving back to their roots, my hat is off to Stewart, and wish him luck with Eldora, and thank him for sending his cars and team to the west coast to put on a show for us fans. I thank him for not hiding on some yacht spending millions on himself instead of guys like Levi Jones. When you get a chance, ask one of his drivers that benifit from his good fortune about the Stewart they know. Also, I applaude you Joe for speaking your mind but just ask that you look at a bigger picture here.

Wow, Funny. When I was talking to Tony on Wednesday, for about 20 minutes, it was a constant interuption with people coming by and asking him to sign this, take a picture that, Blah. Here is the deal, if you were in that position, and wanted to just go hang out at the races with friends and the team, you would want to do it without having every autograph seaker in the world climbing up your behind. Paul Newman is a perfect example of this, when he is out with friends or his wife, or hanging out at the sprint car races, he will not sign autographs, will not take pictures with you. Why, Because he chooses not to. It is his perogative to tell anyone "NO". As is Tony's, as is Jeffs, as is Jimmie's. Just because he is Tony Stewart, doesn't mean you have the right to his time. "We made him what he is" What BS. Tony is where he is because of Tony Stewart, Not you, not me, not anyone else but Tony.

I applaud Tony for putting it as suble as, sorry, you missed the autograph session. When he is racing with us, Let him be Tony the Midget racer, or Tony the Sprint car racer, or Tony, Just one of the guys.

Joe, Sorry dude, I just don't see where you have the right to his time or his autograph, and have a hard time understanding why you think you have the right to it.

Tony is the same guy with me he has always been, just Tony.

I will say yes its great that he has givin back to his roots and that is great that he has spent millions on his race teams. I have talked with Levi Jones the last was at the Oval Nationals and he said that Tony is a great person . This is not the fact that I'm debating here what I'm trying to say is yoou need to take time for the fans . K_Kierce said it best. John Force is a perfect example of how a sports figure should conduct himself when it comes to the fans . I walked by Casey Mears's pit early in the day they were working to fix a problem with the car but he had the time to stop and say a few words when I had asked a question about what was wrong with his car.I know that he is not as popular as Tony . Calling Tony A piece of crap out of line ?? Yes!! but I could'nt help but feel that way when I made the first post last night.

Joe Clifton

P.S Alex I dont care that he didnt have time to take a picture with me that is his right. And no I dont have a right to his time All I'm talking about is the kid that he said that to. He was a kid Alex a kid that most likely was his hero. As for me I dont really care one way or the other.

Let me start off by saying I have been a Tony Stewart fan since his days running a midget at Ventura in 1994.  I think he has done alot for the sport of open wheel racing.  I was in the pits after the races last night and agree Tony was acting like a jerk to his fans.  All of my past interactions with him have been very positive.  If he doesn't want to be bothered by his fans then he should have just went out of sight after the races and that would have been it.  That is what he did at Manzy 2 weeks ago.  He is standing there fiddling with the racecar and small kids want an autograph and he just blows them off.  It was like he was taunting his fans.

I was at the Elma NST race in August when Kasey Kahne ran.  Kasey stood there after the races and signed autographs for everyone.  That is how it should be.

One more thing and then I'm done with this subject... Kasey is awsome, but when he was standing there signing autographs (like Tony has done thousands of times) did he just run 24th in a race that means as much to him as T-Night does to Tony? New subject. Great to see the Tamale Wagon back out, I overheard that is a outdated car by todays standards with an engine that was built about 10 yrs ago, how is it that a team with that much talent can not get a sponsor to run at Perris? They have won 3 Championships that I can remember and I was told the team is ready to go at a moments notice, all it needs is someone ($$) that wants to run up front and go racing.

Another class act.

My son and I went to a NASCAR fan fest at Fontana. My son and I were waiting in line to get an Ernie Ervan autograph. Indication were that they were going to stop the session before we got up to see Ernie. My son and I were alright with that. But I notice a woman pushing a wheelchair with a boy about ten years old in it in the line behind us. This boy had a desease that would mean that he would never be able to walk much less put his seat in a grand stand. I asked my son to wait in line. I went to the head of the line and talked to the security person to see if something could be done for this boy. Ernie overheard my request and motioned to his aide to accompany me to the boy and bring him to the booth. As it turned out my son and I did get to meet Ernie. The young boy wheel chair and all were sitting at the autograph table with Ernie. The glow on his young face was incredible.

My son and I got autographs from Tony during the pre-race autograph session, and I just have to say that he probably signed over 300 in less than 1/2 hour, and even kept signing even after they announced that the session was over. He didn't seem to be in a great mood by time I got to him, which was at the end, but he wasn't rude either. I don't think that it is appropriate to ask a driver who is working on his car in the pits, whether during or after a race, especially when there was a session set aside specifically for that.
