I was totally disgusted yesterday with the attitudes and actions of those in stands towards Jeff Gordon. Here is a living legend (don't agree check the stats) who surpassed one of the sports other legends. Dale Earnhardt was and still is a legend in NASCAR and the racing world....I hate to say this but his son is not. He seems like a good guy and decent race driver but facts are facts he hasn't won a race since Richmond last year. I get tired of hearing all the bs that surrounds his life....just because of his last name. Lets pay attention to the people who are actually in the lead.....I get so tired of all the commercials, the press, and so on. He is not a champion....Kurt Busch isn't one of the popular drivers but he IS a champion, Tony Stewart, Jeff Gordon and the list goes on. This is NASCAR's pretty boy and favoritism does not have a place in the racing world. He gets so much attention for being average and I don't think that is right. Now there is the weird cloud over Dale Jr...like everything he does is the greatest....Come on...stop drinking too much Bud and stop all the stupid stuff. I heard some Jr fan on Wind Tunnel recently just go off like some insane person....Kyle hit Jr....Kyle Busch should die basically was his words. He was wacked.....Most of us will never know what it is like to be in a NASCAR racecar especially at those race speeds. Kyle Busch is one of NASCAR's next best drivers....he wouldn't do anything to hurt Dale Jr seriously!! The Talledega after race was just an embarrassing site to see….all these insane fans discrediting one of NASCAR's best and risking someone getting hurt. People this is a family sport….kids are there…you idiots. I just don't understand. These are probably the very same people who raced out after Dale got killed bought every item that was available to try and make money on it. These are not fans…these are losers. I still have my Dale cars. They are just as valuable to me now as they were then. You know where were all the SO CALLED fans at my first NASCAR race at Sonoma in 99. Fact is when DALE EARNHARDT was introduced he was BOOOED. I was stunned because to me that black number 3 was about as legendary as the Petty 43. You know what he was a winner....he got the boos because he was rough....wasn't his name the intimidator people? He was a REAL racer. He didn't care about the hoopla....he was there to win....!!! That is why he is a legend and one of the greatest. No one will ever replace Dale, but this whole incident was absurd. Please don't take this wrong either…I like Dale Jr….he isn't one of my favorites….actually in truth Tony Stewart is my personal favorite….Lets see Triple Crown championship in the SAME YEAR, a couple of NASCAR championships and various others and too many to count overall wins, but he is also getting booed at times (just like Dale did)….I just don't understood this…Lets get past all this stupid stuff and lets just enjoy the race. I will leave you with this….Jeff Gordon took a lot of flack yesterday, but you know he WON!! He is in the 2007 NASCAR points LEADER and is headed toward his 5th!!! championship. He is the 6th all time winner because he is awesome….. By the way, he was the winner at my first race and still is a winner today. All the red in the stands should be sporting the 24 colors because he is the true winner and champion.

I watch the races because I am a race fan and I am supporting the greats from our dirt and asphalt community....NASCAR wouldn't be anywhere without the greats from our world of sprints midgets and silver crown type racing. These drivers are the best in the sport. I like you am 100% sprint fan first. I grew up with that racing and I still go. It just saddens me to see some of our dirt idols getting put down by people whose idol has no real serious successes..

Do you know how to turn the channel, seem like you should the way you run your mouth, you have your opinion, and people have theres, I don't agree with throwing things on the track, but to say that jr hasn't won a race since richmond last year, well before the last two weeks Fag boy's win was in chicago. So check those stats.

Yes, this is a sprint car forum. And people like you, who call him fag boy, must have FORGOTTEN which drivers out there used to race sprint cars, and which drivers are there because their father was Dale Earnhardt. And, don't get me wrong, I am not Knocking Earnhardt Jr., I think he is great for the sport, and is a great driver. But, I have and always will root for the drivers who have their roots in my favorite form of racing, SPRINT CARS.

HEY RACINREBEL, and all other Jeff Gordon fans who claim to be sprint car fans, think about this...

You know that guy Tony Stewart, well he owns a couple sprint/midget car teams as well as a track named Eldora. Kasey Khane also owns a couple sprint/midget car teams, Ken Schrader owns a couple dirt tracks, and Carl Edwards is "involved" somehow with a Silver Crown team...

They all give back to their roots, which is dirt racing. What has Jeff Gordon given back? How many Outlaw/Usac teams does he own, sponsor, or help in any way with. If ya ask me Jeff Gordon is an embarrasment to the sprint car community. He is selfish and a discrase in my opinion.

PS... Never say anything GOOD about the Busch brothers please. They are two of the biggest wankers on the planet and I could think of countless other sprint car drivers that deserve their rides more than them. They need to go back to Dward cars and stay there.

I feel you can blame the TV for causing all the problems of throwing beer cans on the track. TV NEED'S TO REALIZE THAT DALE IS DEAD AND NOT COMMING BACK. About every week we see some form of the past featuring Dale. We don't see them showing people like Neil, Davey or Allen very often. If I was a racetrack and having that kind of problems I would stop bringing in coolers and if they sold beer it would go in a plastic cup. I know people don't want to hear that but when someone get's killed from a flying beer can from the red army it will happen.

Nothing new here. They've been throwing stuff at Gordon for at least a decade now thinking back to when he won the last "real" Winston Million in 97. Sunday was nothing compared to 2004 when he won the same race under caution over Jr.. The Red Army sent out a barage of cans and what not on to the track. Glad to hear they apprehended some of those assholes. Makes to proud to be a sprint car fan. I say if we see anyone throw something on the track we should have as what my dad would say "a head knockin'."

yeah Nascar has their shitty little followers and thats alright by me. Can't really stand the stuff and the more of a joke it becomes the more people may flip over to Speed or ESPN2 while the sprints are runnin...........and if they have any common sense............which could be stretchin it, they will see and appreciate the difference between great and real racing or that other "crap". But I do have a problem with one thing............Nascar and their crap followers are starting to take over the Chili Bowl............disenfranchising all the REAL race fans of REAL racing (open wheel dirt cars).

Talladega track bans 14 fans for life
May 1, 2007

TALLADEGA, Ala. (AP) -- Talladega Superspeedway has permanently banned 14 fans from buying tickets at the speedway following their arrests Sunday for throwing objects on the track after Jeff Gordon's victory in the Aaron's 499.

The fans were charged with disorderly conduct Sunday and posted bond at the track's jail facilities, Talladega County Sheriff Jerry Studdard said. Track officials can't prevent the 14 fans from buying tickets through a third party.

A number of fans began throwing beer cans after Gordon won the race under caution, passing the late Dale Earnhardt -- a Talladega favorite -- in career wins.

Talladega officials had issued warnings before the race that fans caught throwing objects over the fence separating the grandstands from the track would be arrested.

Superspeedway president Grant Lynch said identifying other fans who threw objects was harder than he had imagined.

``At a baseball game where everybody is sitting down, it's easy to see someone stand up and throw an object onto the field,' Lynch said. ``I was looking at a section that probably had 300 people in it, and they were all standing up, waving their arms and their caps, and I couldn't pinpoint where any of the objects were coming from.'

Track officials added security following a similar incident after Gordon's victory in 2004, and said they will review Sunday's incident to see if more changes are needed.

Fans are allowed to bring small coolers into the track, and also can buy canned beverages at concession stands.

As a Stewart and Kahne fan I am not going to disagree with you on their contributions to the short track world. Honestly, they are key people in our sport right now because they are bringing new people to the track all the time. The Skagit charity race was sold out big time...when do you remember a race being sold out like that with tickets on EBAY going for insane prices. They are bringing the excitement back at giving some really good drivers a break in great cars. I got some friends to go to a Kasey race here in Elma Washington and they all loved it. New fans are what we need to go with all the hardcores like me still in the seats. As for Gordon, he hasn't been as involved yes, but he has a lot more involvement in NASCAR....part owner, driver, merchandising and so on. As a kid he worked his way up to the very top.......you cannot be an embarassment when you have records over greats like Earnhardt among many others. He is fifth all time come on!! That is pretty impressive and he is still fairly young. He is scheduled to be at Tony's Eldora Prelude this year so once he steps back on the dirt I think he will back alot more. It sure would be nice to see him climb back into a sprint or midget. NASCAR's best are their very best when they get into an open wheel car!!! Give Gordon time.......they always COME BACK to dirt!!!
