Great racing, this Show Me Late Model series was well worth it, someone should check into bringing them to the city or around our area. Good local stuff there too!

Why would ya wanna go to Lucas Oil Speedway when the featured event is the $25,000 to win for late models with modifieds running for $2000 when you can go to Batesville Speedway in Batesville, Arkansas for the two-day USMTS southern series modified races?
I will be at SFS for the ASCoT on Friday night and then head to Batesville on Saturday night that weekend.
What is so wrong with sprint cars? A sprint car guy did win in a modified at OKC during a weekly show ya know (Wayne Johnson aboard his brothers modified a couple of years ago) BUT no modified driver has stepped into a sprint car and won in it.
And like you, J.D., just giving ya a hard time.

I like mods and late models.......heck i like anything on dirt except for mini-stocks.............
But there is a reason sprints are by far the most popular form of dirt track racing.........they are the most exciting.
The best weekly show in my opinion would feature 360 sprints, midgets, late models, modifieds, and maybe another class of sprints------2 bbl, 305, or sportsmen. And at least 30 cars in each class. Don't think I'll ever see that unless I die and go to dirt track heaven :)

Perfect show: Winged 410's, non-winged 410's, winged 360's, midgets, and dirt silver crown.

J.D.- I've never been to a big money late model show before and have always wanted to go. While its extremely tempting and I'd love to check out Lucas Oil Speedway the USMTS southern series at Batesville is almost too good to pass up. Ha ha. If things go as planned it looks as if there is a good chance I'll be heading to Batesville but its still not 100% yet.

David- I can name two Cowtown modified drivers who have stepped into sprints and won. I believe both George White and Sean Jones have wins in Sprint cars. In fact Geo just won in both his modified and the sprint car last weekend. What about Paul White and Tim Crawley? I think now days they both run mods almost just as much if not more than they run sprints. I know... I know... they're sprint guys who have stepped DOWN to modifieds. Or are they? Maybe they're sprint guys who have stepped UP to modifieds. Ha ha. It just depends on how you want to look at it. BTW, I know the typical view is that Sprints are a step above modifieds. I'm just giving you a hard time. ;)
With that being said I'm not sure I can name any OKC modified drivers who have done what Wayne did at the SFS. However, Wayne Johnson isn't exactly your average weekly SFS competitor either. I'm not saying that there isn't talent that races at the SFS weekly (in both classes) that couldn't possibly do that but it is kind of like comparing apples and oranges. I'm sure we could put Jason Hughes or Eddie Martin in one of those things (a Sprint car) at a weekly show and we'd see similar results. Ha ha. Or maybe not. I guess we'll never know. Ha ha.

Great late model show and series, a must for all local racing fans! As for mod or stock car drivers racing sprints, what about state fairs S. Smith a few years ago? Didn't he win a feature or 2 after a few laps in sprints?

damn Brandon lets go ahead and throw sportsmen, 2 bbl, 305's, non-wing 360's, and whatever else we've left out........and run it all in 1 night in a town that completely revolves around the track so people won't mind racing from 6pm to 2-3am b/c everyone can sleep in the next day. :)

Dogwater I'm not sure it's a step up or down.........I think for open wheel cars sprints are extremely difficult while from everything I've seen and heard I think Modifieds are the hardest stock cars to drive/set-up. But I don't really like calling mods stock cars.........the front 2 wheels are open. ;)
But I like mods quite a bit which is why you, Dogwater, have seen me do battle with wind and dust while attempting to watch mods at Clinton. hehe

"Some people" will order the french fries, etc. as they are just getting by money wise. At Batesville, I can use my USMTS card and only have to spend for gas and eats. No motel as I am heading straight home those five hours worth of drive.
That late model show will be a great time and should be a hoot, wish I could go but no.
You heading to Outlaw Motor Speedway this Saturday night for the Azalea Nationals paying $2000 to win?
