The following was copied and pasted here from the Mid-America Speedway in South Coffeyville, OK website:
Late Models Cancelled
Due to a lack of car count from the Late Models, it is necessary for us to cancel the division. The weekly pay and point fund were based on the anticipation of a much higher car count than we received. All late model drivers who registered will receive a refund of their registration fee. You will receive your refund by mail in the next couple of days.
We apologize for any inconveniences this cancellation may have caused.
Non-Wing Sprint Point Fund
A point fund will be created for the non-wing sprints based on car count. For every non-wing sprint that registers by the 2nd sprint race, we will put in $1,000 towards their point fund. In other words, if 15 sprints register the point fund will be $15,000. If 20 register, the point fund will be $20,000, and so forth. The point fund will pay the top 20 drivers. Registration will be $75.

What happens to all the money they had in escrow?25k to win points, wasn't it?This doesn't smell good. They sure didn't say anything about car count when they were announcing all that guaranted money. Sprints win out over LM in Oklahoma......again.I'm sure there are going to be some drivers hacked off!Kind of lousy with 21 lates there, pretty good count.jmho

We were planning on running Mid America Speedway tommorrow night but they have rained out already. We haven't run non-wing since our days at I-44. Guess we will run Lawton

From reading local racers on there message board at MAS ,looks as if the place is in some turmoil , saying the place is for sale because owner is in $$$ trouble and it all will be known Monday or something like that, funny to how they cancel today for a race on Sat. night , that tells me something maybe true to all the talk.

thought I'd let ya'll know. I tried to register to post my thoughts on MAS forum and all responses and posts it seems has been disabled. I only wanted to say to them that 21 late models is not the problem........it was probably the original idea for the late model purse. If that escrow account was for real than there will be legal action all over the place as all this stuff looks fishy. But if MAS is for sure done.......then Mr. Carpenter's car count at CCS may have just grown as now there isn't anywhere else to race. Except for OCRS.......they will probably make out of this best as all their shows at Caney may actually have more than 1 heat race.
Look like the ASCS Sooner schedule may have just gotten a bit lighter..........and OKC WinterNationals car count a lil bit bigger being another direct result (MAS runs ASCS both nights of OKC WinterNationals). O yeah and Memorial Day weekend may have just lost an ASCS Sooner race. I hope not.................but..................

I know that we had a lot of new faces at West Siloam.I was told that several were from the MAS area.Like Joseph Gorby in mods.I know he races up around that area.Since Im not that familiar with the drivers up there.I couldnt tell who is from where. We had 145 cars signed in.Being the announcer...whew what a handfull. But what a lot of fun!!!!!!!!!!!Great racing all night.

West Siloam should gain fans and cars as should Caney when it opens next weekend. If the promoter at Caney is a good businessman, he will be successfull with his program, especially since he is running the same divisions a MAS was - if MAS is for sure done.
