Van Dam in the NSCS chase Andrew Kunas, NSCS Publicist
ENUMCLAW, Wash. – Henry Van Dam will be a force to be reckoned with in the Northwest Sprint Challenge Series in 2007.
The 25-year-old from Enumclaw, Wash. is the pick of many to win the first NSCS championship, and Van Dam already has some momentum on his side already as he is coming off a win in last Saturday’s regular event at Skagit Speedway.
This Friday and Saturday, April 27th and 28th, the NSCS opens its inaugural season at Grays Harbor Raceway in Elma, Wash. Van Dam has seen a lot of success at the high-banked 3/8-mile clay oval, which includes his first touring victory in a Northern Sprint Tour event last August. Van Dam also has a number of victories in weekly competition at Elma to his credit.
Van Dam will again be piloting the familiar No. 33v Rocket, carrying a BC Race Engine under the hood. Van Dam Dairy, Shareway Industries, Southend Machine are just a few of the many sponsors Van Dam will have listed and decaled on his car this year.
Van Dam raced in the former Northern Sprint Tour the past three seasons, finishing eighth in points last season in addition to scoring his first win. In addition to earning two victories in weekly competition at Elma, Van Dam was sixth in 2005 NST points and tenth in 2006.
There are those who consider Van Dam as the dark horse in the 2007 NSCS season, expecting to see a breakout year from the young star. Considering his past success at Grays Harbor Raceway, opening the season at Elma is a huge opportunity for Van Dam.
On Friday, when the NSCS season begins, pit gates at Grays Harbor Raceway will open early at 1 p.m. to help with last minute NSCS registrations and technical inspections before the first race of the season. This weekend’s events at Grays Harbor Raceway are open to ASCS-legal cars only.
