For Immediate Release:

MIDWEST SPRINTS TO OPEN AT TRI-STATE SPEEDWAY

Haubstadt, IN (April, 21). The Hoosier Tire Midwest Sprint Car Series will open the 2007 season on the quarter mile at Tri-State Speedway in Haubstadt, IN, on Sunday May 6th. A complete racing program for the MSCS non-wing sprints will be will be highlighted by a 25 lap feature paying $2,000 to win and $200 to start. It is the first of six big MSCS shows at Tri-State Speedway in this the 50th season of continuous operation for the track.

The MSCS format provides drivers two chances to race their way into the feature. Drivers who fail to transfer through the heat races will compete in a B-main or last chance race to complete the 20 car field. A provisional is also available for use if needed. The program offers continuous racing to gain an advantage from the very first green flag in a heat to the final checkered flag at the end of the feature.

Since this is the first race of the season, owners and drivers should plan to arrive early to complete registration and tech before the action starts. Race teams are reminded that MSCS competes with a spec tire. A Hoosier DT-3 must be used on the right rear of the sprint car. Complete rules are posted on the web at www .mscssprints.com.

This early May Tri-State date has a history of pulling an average of almost 40 cars. MSCS has an event contract with tracks that assures that drivers who do not make the feature will receive $100 tow money. Not only does this help offset expenses for a non productive night, it encourages race teams to travel and follow the series.

Veteran Kevin Briscoe has won two of the last three “First Weekend of May” Tri-State features held under MSCS sanction. He was third in ‘05 with Dave Darland the winner that season. Even though these veterans have been coming out of the trailer strong to start the season, pre-season license sales have already produced five Rookie of the Year candidates. There will be new faces to watch and new names to consider as the season unfolds.

This year the outcome of this Tri-State race will set the points battle for the season and produce the initial points leader as the series prepares to head to Kentucky for an appearance at Western Kentucky Speedway on May 19th.

Racing gets underway promptly at 7:30. The Drivers Meeting will be at 5:40 prior to warm-ups and hot laps. The UMP Open Wheel Modifieds will also be racing to make it a double header for race fans.
