I live in Montana ...where you here nothing about sprint car racing......however in the local paper they posted a photo of Sprint car shearing a utility pole at the Bridgeport N.J. Speedway...Anyone know how Greg Coverdale is? Looked pretty violent.....Used to attend races at Ascot Park.......No sprint cars in My little town.....But Life here is great.............Thanks

Taken from the picture captions on Hosehead's "Speed Shotz" page (I think this originally came from a press release).

"Following a violent crash Saturday night during URC warm-ups at the Bridgeport Speedway, Greg Coverdale was released from the hospital and is now resting at his Miford, DE home."

It appears to me that the first photo was just before impact because many pieces of the traffic signal, that was visable in the first photo, are shown shattered in the second photo. That, I think, would indicate the front bottom of the chassis was the first thing to impact the pole. It certainly could have been much worse.

"The Outlaws have people out here that don’t know
anything about racing. I don’t understand how they
come up with some of the calls they do. It makes me
think that they just might be that stupid. It’s
scary." -Steve Kinser
