Heard from a good source sprint cars are not probable at Jackson . Jackson county has 2 parties interested I heard but neither will run sprint cars. Can any one confirm this or dismiss it as a rumor.

Looks to me that no interviews have been made, Not sure how reliable your source is.... How about we wait and see?

Wednesday is deadline for Speedway proposals Nov. 14, 2006

JACKSON - The deadline for anyone interested in serving as the promoter of Jackson Speedway is Wednesday to have their proposals submitted to the county coordinator's office.

So far, there have been eight people that have expressed some kind of interest, but no formal proposals have been submitted.

At Tuesday's county commission meeting, Commissioner Loren Tusa said the race committee will be meeting Friday to review proposals and start scheduling interviews with prospective promoters.

Tusa said the timeline is to have a recommendation for a new promoter before the county commission at its Dec. 12 meeting.

J.P. and Sabre Karpowicz resigned as in September after being promoters for one season

That is totally a Rumor! Talked to a good source tonight that told me that there will be Sprints on the program for next year.....

As far as i am concered, Jackson is nothing without Sprints and whoever seems to think that they can make Jackson work as a fender track is just as retarted as the bus that they ride on.... J.P. learned really fast about this, look at what happened at the "Carmel Corn Classic". Payed the Stock Cars the same purse as the Sprints and they had.... what 20 or so cars?!?! and maybe 100 people in the stands.... Jackson is not a Fender Only Track, never has been and never will be.

Just my 2 pennies worth

I agree totally but the interested parties told my source NO SPRINTS. I hope this is wrong, but these are people who have been involved for 50 years. If this is fact, Jackson WILL be just another Sat. nite track with stock cars & mods. I am looking for FACTS not to start an argument or debate . WE all have to make plans. I didn't realize Dec. 12 was the dead line. I thought if this could be substantiated, We all could get on so to speak. If not we will all have to wait.

Let em drop sprints, lets see how many people dont show up and lets see who they can get for sponsors. I know of one place for sure who will not sponsor if there is no sprints. Maybe if they do that, than they will realize that it was tried before with jon and it was a total joke. And if they do it again, than let the chips fall where they may. I for one will not go up there weekly to watch that. If i wanted to see that stuff i can go 30 miles east and west of me and watch it. I also realize not everyone up there is a sprint fan, but when JP had the program switched around earlier this year, the stands cleared after the sprint feature. People just dont care to watch the mods race a 20 or so lap feature and it takes forever to get done with cause of cautions. I for one will sit with my fingers crossed and believe that the race committee will make the best decision.

Now that the King and the Dude are back in the fold (with more to follow, I'm sure) I'd like to see Jackson get a World of Outlaw race for '07!

If I recall didn't the last press release state that the board would have sprints racing there. That they didn't want to stop promoting them at the racetrack. Why don't we all wait and see how it comes about. If they are just reviewing the proposals on friday then doing interviews don't you think it would be a good idea to wait and see. Let the board talk to those who put proposals in. We are all going on hear say with no hard facts. I do know there is an interview being done next week and that person has sprints on their proposed schedule, but cannot disclose who this person is at this time as they dont' want me to say. Give it time. I realize we all need to get ready for the 2007 season but if you want the right person running the show lets have some patience we don't want what happened to us this past year. Have faith in the board when they say there will be sprints I would venture to guess that there will be somehow. So unless anyone has concrete items to base it all on lets wait and see what it brings after they do some interviews

i believe there were 29 stockcars for the carmel corn classic. and probably more people in the stands than the IRA race. not bad for a thursday night show and bad track conditions! i hope they do it again next year.

as for no sprints...fairmont is a good example of how well a track can do without sprints. they averaged 120 cars per night this year and most nights you were out of there by 10pm. what did jackson average this year?

After the last three promoters at Jackson, it will take someone with HUGE Cajonas to even take a chance at promoting there.

TheIRA race was the most bang for a sprint fans buck you could get ...what people forget is the WEATHER that day and evening..drizzle ..wet 100% humidity. It was a miricle the show got in at all! Oh yeah, lightning all around the speedway also . Steve Sinclair in the drivers meeting thanked J.P. for sticking it out and even atempting to have the show..that was the reason for the lack of fans that night.

Without Sprints, I'm saying the hell with Jackson Speedway.

I'll drive my 5 hours + to see certain shows and Sprints at Jackson is one of them.

Race committee to interview three applicants Nov. 20, 2006

JACKSON - The Jackson County race committee has reviewed proposals submitted by potential race promoters for Jackson Speedway and will be interviewing three applicants in the coming week.

Last Thursday was the deadline for anyone interested to submit a proposal.

The committee hopes to forward a recommendation for a new promoter for the 2007 season to the Jackson County Commission for their Dec. 12 meeting.

I hope Jackson Speedway can maintain a weekly sprint show. I started my career there when the VFW was running the program. It would be a loss to the community and to sprint car history.

That said, I think a promotor has to seriously examine the viability of a weekly sprint show. From an owner/driver view a Jackson/Wissota/ASCS 360's team cannot stay in business with a purse less than the current ACSC standard. Local teams might have half a chance (with business sponsors), but anyone that has to travel can't make it work (guys with VERY good sponsors or deep pockets excepted, but there aren't that many of them out there for a local show). A lower purse will guarentee a failed program if the car & engines stay the same.

I don;t know the inside details, but consider this. The VFW's premier class for many years was 317 sprints, limited in many ways. They ran an all sprint show with support from a 6 cyl class (maybe others). VFW opted for "Unlimited" class in 1983 (maybe 82?) and tried to keep pace with Knoxville for purse. The car count was excellent, but the VFW was out of the promotion business at the end of 1984. "Unlimiteds" or 410s lasted through the 1988 season and then were gone.

The modern aluminum headed ASCS Sprint is comparable in cost and longevity to that premier class. Perhaps that too much for the area to support...

I heard this weekend that Husets was going to only run 360s this next year. Are they dropping the 410s? Will they be adding the Ltd Sprints? Anyone know if this is true or just a rumor?

I heard that both of the interested parties are not running sprints and will be replacing them with winged v6 hornets along with a bmods. I can't wait for 2007 to see those winged warriors on the ultra-fast superspeedway of dirt that is Jackson Speedway!
