HOW IS EVERYONE LIKING THE MINI LATE MODELS, IT LOOKS LIKE A FUN CLASS, BUT I DON'T LIKE THE IDEA YOU CAN'T BUILD YOUR OWN LIKE THE LEGEND CARS, MAKE'S IT SOUND A LITTLE EXPENSIVE, I HOPE NOT TO MAKE ANYONE MAD BY THAT BUT I WAS JUST WONDERING WHAT WERE EVERYONE'S THOUGHTS.

The way I understand it is anyone can build them. Those are the only two they found that will.

Mini-Late Models have to be purchased from one of the builders listed on the website. Clyde & Patti made it clear at the meetings that no individual could build their own, because they don't trust anyone's welding if they are not a professional chassis builder. And from what I understand from the mini-late models guys is that the South Dakota guys no longer have a place to race and all of their cars are for sale. I think it is a cool class but right now there is only gonna be about 4 regulars in the class each week. Rodney Harper or Chaz Steen will be your winner every week. So it will be pretty much like the mini-stocks were last year, the top 2 will be pretty much the same every week. Makes for pretty boring racing.

It may take a little bit to get it going, but it IS way better than the mini stock racing that was there. Much faster & better looking. It would be cool to see a few regular SFS drivers get them.

Anybody that will sit at a computer and compare a class you can get into and enjoy for a $1,000, I didn't say win but thats not what everyone races for,to a class that you HAVE TO spend $10,000 plus to even get to the race track, is out of line. Sorry Greg that may not of been your point but its the way I took it. Do you think we should start running injected 410 cars to replace tthe 2 barrels and Late models should replace Factory stocks, they would deffinately look cooler and go faster.

Actually you can get into a mini-latemodel for a lot less that 10k. If you wanna run a ministock go to meeker or lawton or somewhere. Obviously there weren't enough cars at I-44 in the ministock class to keep it around and that class just did not fit that racetrack. The minilatemodels are a pretty cool class and i hope it does really well.

I wasnt trying to knock on anyones race car. I just stated it was, in my opinion, better than the mini stock racing they had there in the past. The 1st and 2nd place mini late models were both purchsed for around $5500@ race ready.

I think it is a cool deal But, Very few people will stick there neck out to spend at least $5500.00 on a new class with out a guarantee they will be able to race the cars for at-least 3 years.

Some of you will remember the Mini Modifieds/Pro 4 class Ada started in 2000 every one thought they were cool but no one built any because they were all waiting to see how many people would build cars before they invested there money in there own car. There were 4 cars built total. 3 from the same shop and yes we still have them and no place to race. George cut the class mid season 2001 for low car count.

There are about 8 Pro 4 cars in the Tulsa area collecting dust for the same reason

If every one waits to see what will happen with the class nothing will happen.

And if you have to buy cars from the 2 builders and you can not build your own they are cutting alot of people out right off the bat. We have built cars for 10+ years. I don't feel convertible in a car any one else built its my a$$ in the seat not theres.

I agree with you guys. As long as the cars meet minimum standards, anyone should be able to build them.

Clyde had changed his mind on home built cars, I was told last night. He wants the car count higher. You might want to call him for specifics.

This Class Is a joke I think there cool. But come on People you can buy complete Roller late model for 5500. And what does Clyde Pay Nothing But Then again No other Promoter does with there Track. I think Its going to be really hard to get this class going,Me i much rather see the pros gone and late models at fair grounds. remember DRIVEITINDEEP.

I was just surfing around and found this site. Being from SD, I can let you know that the reason the cars are for sale. We were taught growing up with this motto, "everything is for sale". If the cars sell or not, we are still planning of racing them here in SD. We have "no place" to race "now" because there is still snow on the ground here. today was the first day that any work was done on our track here, so hopefully it won't be long until we can start racing.
