Chaddy Mac pulled off the sweep in the Street Stocks but Ray Nulf ran him down late in the race after passing Jerry Derr..Derr was the man to beat early then started slipping back with trouble..Ray patiently got by Derr then ran out of laps after catching Chad..Jerry Derr, Kenny Morris and the #3 car were in the barn after the race but I don't know for sure who finished 3rd on back..We're not even sure if anybody got DQ'd out of the top 5 in the Street Stocks..I guess we are not "Big League" enough to get any news coverage so let us know if you hear anything Redneck..Thanks

Shryock wins $5,000 at ESP

By Cheryl Licklider Staff Writer

Ninety-nine cars played to a nearly capacity crowd at Enid Speedway Park as the O’Reilly Auto Parts United States Modified Touring Series made its inaugural visit to Garfield County Fairgrounds’ high-banked oval.

The doubleheader drew drivers from nine states and as far away as Canada to duel on the 3/8-mile track in quest of a $5,000 payday. Sixty-six competitors chased points in the USMTS Southern and National series.

Eight-time defending USMTS champion Kelly Shryock posted the win in both cards. It was Shryock’s second and third trips to victory lane this season and ninth top-three finish.

“It was an awesome, unbelievable weekend,” said Shryock. “The cars that were here were really fast.”

The main events had the fans on their feet as the 24-car field entered the track with American flags soaring from their cars and orchestrated a four-abreast parade lap with Lee Greenwood’s “God Bless the USA” pouring from the speakers.

On Saturday pacesetter Shryock exploded off the front row and set up an eight-car length advantage in a mere two laps. A yellow flag waved in lap six as Jeremy Chambers came to rest on the front straightaway.

Shryock hustled away when the race went green with Jeremy Payne in hot pursuit. But with a clean track in front of him Shryock was unstoppable. He lapped his way through the field.

Bud Longpine stalled in turn four and put the race back under caution in lap 21. Shryock sped away on the restart with Payne stuck to his bumper. Mayhem on the restart in turn four saw the yellow flag wave again.

Shryock broke away when the race went green and never was challenged on his route to victory lane. Payne raced to second trailed by Jason Hughes, Randy Timms and Tim Karrick.

In Sunday’s action Greg Skaggs showed the way off the pole and led the early going of the 35-lap race. Skaggs set up a commanding lead and looked to be the man to beat.

David Mitchell spun and came to a rest in turn four, putting the race under caution in lap eight. Skaggs powered away when the race went green, but Johnnie Allen came to a halt on the front stretch the next time around and brought out another yellow. Another caution came out on the restart for mayhem in turn four.

Skaggs put his ride out front and sped away but the man on the move was Shryock. Shryock steadily marched through the field and worked his way to third when a yellow came out in lap 18. Shryock put his car out front with an outside challenge on the start and was untouchable despite another yellow in lap 24. Payne settled for second followed by Phillips, Jack Sullivan and Tommy Weder Jr.

Two-time defending street stock champion Chad McNamara, of Blackwell, dominated the field and captured both street stock features. The back-to-back wins sweetened his winnings by $500.

“I think we’ve finally got the car set up good,” said McNamara. “When the setup is good it’s easy to just get in and drive it.”

McNamara showed the way in Saturday’s 25-lap feature. McNamara had the fastest car on the track as he navigated through lapped traffic.

McNamara headed up the restart for a lap-16 caution and held off challenges by Kenny Morris on his route to the winner’s circle.

Morris held onto second with Mark Smith, Ray Nulph and Wesley Kruckenberg rounding out the top five.

On Sunday, Jerry Derr powered into a 10-car advantage in three laps.

A caution waved in lap 10 and put McNamara on his bumper. McNamara charged to the front and despite two late race cautions took an imposing advantage to the finish.

Nulph posted second with Mark Smith, Morris and Derr trailing.

Lloyd Taylor conquered the limited modifieds, posting the win in both “A” features and pocketing the $400 bonus.

Saturday night, Tony Sessions lead early in the race. Taylor sped away following a restart for a yellow flag in lap three and set up a powerful lead. Despite a lap 11 caution, Taylor never looked back on his route to the checkered flag. Sessions settled for second trailed by Nick Shenberger, Michael Shenberger and Scott Parli.

In Sunday’s action Taylor accelerated off the pole and led all 20 laps to win. Michael Schenberger, Nick Schenberger, Harley Menarcher and John Whitson rounded out the top five.

Heat winners Saturday in modified were Tommy Weder Jr., Zack VanderBeek, Shryock, Karrick, Chase Allen and Terry Phillips with Payne, Phillips, Jamie Buford, Steve Holzkamper, Jack Sullivan and Mike Roach picking the wins on Sunday.

Nick Shenberger and Tony Sessions posted the heat wins in limited modified on Saturday with Shenberger and Taylor winning on Sunday.

Saturday street stock heat winners were Chad McNamara and Ray Nulph with McNamara and Derr taking the honors on Sunday.

Enid Speedway Park’s first points card of the season will be at 7 p.m. this Saturday.

Kenny Morris and I think the Mark Smith car were on the 500's Saturday but not for sure about Sunday..These tires are allot wider than the 500's we ran here in Kansas..I didn't know they made this tire in different widths..Sorry if I stepped on anybody's toes over there..I will not comment on them anymore..The facts will speek for themselves..Chad McNamara , Jerry Derr and Ray Nulf were not on the 500's and we struggled Saturday with setup issues on a totally different track..Jerry Derr did not race Saturday..

Maybe I shouldn't say it but that Lady's article is quite a bit bias and inaccurate for the Street Stock section...Look how she spelled our name too...:(

YEAH I SEEN THAT, MY DAD WAS WANTING TO BUY ME A SET OF TIRES, BUT I TOLD HIM TO WAIT AND SEE WHAT EVERYONE THINKS ABOUT THEM, I ALSO TOLD HIM EARLIER THIS YEAR IT WOULD PROBALLY BE SAFE JUST TO LEAVE IT LIKE IT IS, SINCE WE HAVEN'T HAD THAT MANY PROBLEMS.

I THINK WE ARE GOING SAT, ARE YOU GUYS GOING TO BE THERE?
