Marlin Heller just got another Grimm 88 car restored. He had it out this year. Does anyone know of any pics out there.

Uh, that "scrub", as you called him, in the 69, is Gus Linder.....do a little research. Gus won quite a few races on the Sel-Wil circuit. He was among the first western PA. boys to travel to Central PA and show the Williams Grove guys the fast way around the track. He was a contemporary of Bobbie Adamson, who was quite the driver, too. And the Banas car was once powered by a Ford, but they switched to a Chevy and were very successful with it....
Too bad that you cannot respect some of our racing predecessors........

yes, Gus was faaaaaaar from being a "scrub"
take a peek at his winning stats, he has wins a most every Pa. track that ran sprints
saw him win many in western pa. while running a 289 ford
saw him flip in the Austrialian Pursuit race at Blanket Hill in the early 60's, come back & win the feature

I'm sorry. I've heard a lot about Linder. I'm sure he was great. Scrub is what Ford guys call a small block chevy.

I hardly think Gus Linder was a "scrub"! He raced about everything there was to race, and did very well for a long, long time. He was one of the first to go to central Pa. with a sprinter, and his first Trevis-Craft was powered by a 312 Thunderbird, soon replaced by a Cobra 289. When that proved to be not enough, Mickey bought him a Chevy. I am proud to call him a friend, and former employee.

Once again, I was referring to the engine not Gus.

Just a bit odd...
I've been around sprint car racing for over forty years, and I've never heard anyone refer to a Chevy motor as a "scrub"....a mouse, yes, a small-block, yes, but never a "scrub".....
To me , a "scrub" is a less than competent competitor........

Well now you have. When Ray had Bud's piece on the track, the competition was in fact less than competent. If you hang out with guys that think something is wonderful, you probably won't hear much derog about it.
