The new "car of tomorrow" at OKC was debuted last night - the former Pro Stock class, now know as the Jok Stocks. It's a real "feel good" class where everyone can finish in the Top Ten! Although last night's feature was 12 laps, from now on they'll run the same number of laps as they have cars - 6 cars = 6 laps: should be fun.

yes I think it's about that time that we can all start taking bets on how long the pro stocks have left. That may offend some pro stock drivers, but certainly can't be worse than the DAILY OKLAHOMAN reporting that they only had 9 cars (slight difference between tidbits and the oklahoman). It's a shame certain drivers in that class have run the rest off. Rules don't help though either. I don't know why the pro stock drivers try so hard to keep it goin............if they are dead set on racing..........get a modified or somthin. The only interest I have left in the pro stocks is to see what class - if any - they replace the pro stocks with. I don't really see where you could add anything mid-season and pull more than what the pro stocks do now. So what COULD be done?

There were nine pro stocks that raced, however only eight ran the feature.

Stanley Reed, Jr. was serving his one race suspension from the end of last year. Jay Sale is registered in both his modified and pro stock but wasn't there. Morris Woodall got injured and hasn't been cleared to race yet. One guy got married Friday night so he couldn't make it. Was told two or three didn't know it was an official points race as it said on the schedule next Friday night was season opener (just what was explained too me) and another couple wasn't going to pay the $35 pit pass.

Tonight there were twenty-six factory stocks but six were from either Weatherford, Lawton, Carnegie or Altus. You take away those six out of towners and that is twenty cars so the pro stocks aren't the only ones struggling with car counts.

Plus, let us not forget that there were only twenty-two in the champ sprints tonight (Saturday night) also.

Just some random thoughts and some tidbits that was brought to my attention so let's not get too carried away about the demise of any divisions just yet.

I know one champ guy didnt know it was a points race also. He was waiting to come out when it said it was a points race. Lack of communication on someone other than the racers part sounds like part of it.

22 champ sprints is a lot different than 9 pro stocks.......or even 20 factory stocks. Those sprint cars are a lot more expensive than the stock cars......although a second look at some of the "factory" stocks motors might give that cause for second guessing.

Bottom line is we could keep beating this thing like a drum, but it won't change the problem. And with each person you ask there is a different problem. Personally I think the biggest problem is the rulebook (or lack thereof). Its never enforced.

The factory stocks have hurt themselves..........pretty soon there won't be but 12 cars wanting to put their 3k motor against a few of those 10k+ motors out there.

I think more pro stocks will show up , I just think some of them did'nt show because of the pit prices . Since you can run steel heads now , using a restrictor plate of course , I think we will have some of the street stocks show up from all over the state . As for the factories that class is kinda hurting remember when ?? You had to finish 1st or 2nd just to go to the feature or win one of three b features . that was when the class was good , where did they all go ?It really has gotten out of hand .

winners dont cry when they lose , they go back to the
drawing board and come back for round 2 !

As for your thoughts on my post............yeah I think some of the rules will hurt some of the classes there for some time to come and should at some point( hopefully soon) be addressed. Now where that opinion translates into not liking racing anymore and not attending dirt track racing anymore.........well you will just have to enlighten me with your wisdom o wise one.............

Maybe its just my mood...........but for once I'll be a little bit bigger and not retort to an insult with another insult (sarcasm will do). This hasn't always been the case, but considering I've met you David I'll make an exception to that.

But the next time you have that much of a problem with an opinion of mine..........you take it up with me in private. Instead of playing the hypocrit by 1) callin me out for something you do as well (complaining) and 2) resorting to insulting and cussing at somebody ON YOUR OWN FORUM. ;)

You could have made that point without gettin cross. Unless you have a SERIOUS problem with me......I respectfully request you do not do that again.

Personally, I enjoy watching the pro stocks run, but I do think the class is on life support. All of the car counts are a little bit of a concern, especially since we've seen a pretty dramatic nosedive in just the last couple years, but the pro stock thing has been coming for a while. For the people that are racing and sponsoring that class, I hope it can make it. Unfortunately, it doesn't look very promising, and when less than 10 cars roll out for an A feature it ain't exactly great marketing. If and when it goes I just hope we don't get subjected to hornets, lawn mowers or one of those other classes that would be better staged in the parking lot.

This all brings me to another point ... if car counts are down and one class looks to be at no better than 12-13 cars when completely maxed out, why aren't we running all five classes each week?

It all boils down to this. Lanny don't give a rats tail about what everyone thinks. He's there for the money and that's all. I am sad to say that I will be contributing to his pocket some this year and for as many as he runs the next few years. Griping about it don't do anything for the fans or the drivers or the owners. I'd bet money to say that he don't ever read any of this and never will. He's probably informed about it by some of his hired help though. Gossup. Well if that's the fact then we all know how gossup is. Sometimes the words get twisted before they reach the final destination. I'm not saying that anyone here is lying, just telling the truth of the matter about gossup. Anyone care to comment on that? It's an open forum so go ahead. Oh, i think 5can may be right.

I can CLEARLY see a cage match on the front straight between David and Okcfan12. This could be good.Maybe we can have it right after the 8 car A-main.

Why? Him and others beat a damn horse to death and I am trying to sell that dead horsemeat to McDonalds and get done with it. There are those who haven't posted a positive thing about any topic and it has made a couple of people not want to post anything here anymore because they are afraid it will stir up trouble. And they have been on this site for a long, long time and I respect their opinions alot.

There are those who have posted their opinion on the same subject over and over and now I am caught in the middle from pro stock drivers who is telling me what IS going on. I don't mind being in the middle of that as their side needs to speak too. What if a full-bodied fan starts complaining and bashing the sprint car drivers because they always need to be push-started when they spin out and that take more time than anything else? What if a non-sprint car fan thinks that twenty cars in the champ sprints is a waste of time for everybody? I would be trying to defend the same thing with logic and what is told by me and those sprint car fans/drivers would be just as upset as the pro stock drivers and fans are now.

You may say if I don't like a certain topic then don't read it. Problem is, I do have to scan through topics now and then cause some get out of hand. Therefore, I have to babysit.

And for you OKCfan, I didn't say if you didn't like it dont go to dirt track racing or whatever you decided to take from it. What I meant was, if you (or anybody else) don't like it when the short field of pro stocks are out there then go take a wiz or go to the concession stand cause nobody is forcing any of you to sit there and watch it. I got my own opinions about the pro stocks myself and I posted it. Thing is, with my real name, I get called out and got a tongue lashing by a pro stock driver for my negative thoughts on it. I took my butt chewing like a man and respected what he had to say and I think in the end he rightfully respected what my thoughts were. We are still considered friends but it boiled down to if your going to speak your negative thoughts then be brave enough to get called out on it, make it known who you are.

There are those who know me well that know that I like all but one or two of those drivers out at SFS and I respect all but those one or two drivers out there who race each and every Friday night - no matter what division they compete in. I like to think that alot of fans there who know me enjoy what I try to do for this site BUT I will not continue to take a talking too because several people want to post about the same thing week in and week out.

Dayum it is going to be along season.

Dave, you're right. That's why I rarely go. Pro Stocks need to to away. Guys will either run factories or mods. If they don't like those options, they can sit.

That being said, you did come off as a little surly. This post was civil if not a bit sarcastic until your response. I understand the need to babysit every once in a while but I would hope my babysitter would never drop an F bomb in front of the kids. LOL.

I was at the late AJ Little's house in '88 and asked him why the car counts didn't stay up. He said they don't pay you much anymore. Bigger crowds should mean bigger payoffs to the cars. The crowds aren't like they used to be. Bring back the supers! Restore our Weekend heroes! Quit trying to be Nascrap or the Outlaws and I will gladly pay $35.00 for a pit pass. Come on guys, we used to be individuals. I was born to be amongst you, but now I prefer to chase women. I remember when I felt like the whole world should be at the speedway.
