CARLSON LEADS CALIFORNIA DIRT FOCUS SERIES TO BAKERSFIELD AFTER WINNING AT VENTURA
INDIANAPOLIS – Nick Carlson gained a lot of momentum during the USAC California Ford Focus Dirt Midget Car Series season Saturday, and hopes to continue that this weekend.
Carlson will lead the series to Bakersfield (Calif.) Speedway as the point leader after winning last weekend’s race at Ventura (Calif.) Raceway. He led all 20 laps of the race to beat Dennis Howell, Bobby Michnowicz, Nic Faas and Walt Johnson. Carlson’s lead over Howell stands at three.
The victory was Carlson’s first of his career.
“We had a little help from some of the other competitors,” Carlson said. “Most of my family had to go to a wedding, so hopefully they’ll get to see me win another race here soon.”
The Bakersfield round is the first of two races on the 2007 series calendar.
