I was present at the meeting with the track owner and Don Cass when the Lease was signed on Tuesday this week at the Caney Kitchen restaurant at 610 N MCGee in Caney, Kansas.
From a couple of the Big Car Forums:
"Today Saturday March 3 is Clean Up Day at Caney Speedway. From 10am until 5pm Mowing, brush removal, electrical work and carpentry repair has begun. Track and infield is being ripped up and disked this weekend.
Seeking volunteer help from people with these skills: Carpentry, Electrical, Plumbing, Painting, General Labor. Also looking for someone in that area with a Backhoe for helping with French Drains in the Parking Lot, and Tractors with ripping teeth on Box Blades and Disks to help prepare the track for grading."
Work was scheduled to start last Saturday, but wet weather postponed it to this weekend.
I head the promoter is related to Mama Cass of the Mamas and Papas, and their are negotiating with Wilson Phillips for a big music concert to be held at Caney Speedway this Summer. That is big.
