Hello Race Fans,

I'd like to ask every Open Wheel fan to contact SPEED TV and encourage them to include more video clips of Sprint Cars and Midgets to their Speed Report Program.
As most of you know, Speed Report dedicates a segment of their program to non-NASCAR racing. Over the past year or so, the time allowed for Sprint Cars (both Winged and Non-Wing) and Midgets has decreased.
Raceway Video's Jeff Kristensen, who records the USAC/CRA events, has clips ready to air after every race. In addition to the TV Clips, he shares weekly clips (for free) on his website- www.racewayvideo.com. Other Sprint Car and Midgets videographers are more than happy to supply clips to SPEED TV.
However, the producers of Speed Report generally choose not to air Short Track Open Wheel Racing unless they need to fill time. Any clips aired on programs such as Speed Report, or the Sunshine Network's RaceScene (which is now cancelled) are a great way to promote Open Wheel Racing- it's drivers, teams, tracks, sponsors, and events. Since the TV coverage is not as hoped, USAC has chosen not to renew Raceway Video's deal with USAC/CRA.
So, I'm asking for help to promote the sport we love by contacting SPEED TV and in the process helping a friend who has done a lot for the sport. This also affects every Sprint Car, Midget, and Open Wheel team across the world.
Let your voice be heard. Those in charge of programming need to listen to their subscribers and fan base. SPEED TV's Feedback Page is at http://www.speedtv.com/feedback/. Just fill out the online form and click submit.
If anyone knows of an email address to contact, please let us know.
Thanks, Lance Jennings - SCRAFAN.COM - [email protected]

On the same subject, does anyone know what is going on with The Outdoor Channel? I don't see anything on their site about USAC or World of Outlaws for that matter.

The cost to air an hour racing "show" keeps increasing. The producer wants a piece. Understandably. So does the cable network. Shoe had a dollar figure in the next to last year of SCRA for one of the cable networks (I can't recall now). It wasn't cheap; well into four figures. He talked with a lot of "pockets" at the time, but no one stepped up sufficiently to get it done.

anyone notice that without sprint cars or dirt track speed sport news only has about 4 pages to publish.. tv media fills the airways with babble when they could be spending more air time on dirt races.
