Heard that there is a pretty good chance you will see Doug's son, Robby out on the National ASCS tour this coming year. He will be driving the #1 sprinter owned by Loren Barstad (sp?). Robby actually only just started last year, but had alot of good runs around the Sioux Falls area. He will be fun to watch if this is true, and will have a great coach/crew-chief in his corner, that's for sure!

Car owner is Loren Barstad.

I heard they are going to make him sign the waiver twice.

Luna's Ford engine style that won 2 WoO titles and 3
Kings Royals before a weight rule against the best EVER
in their prime and now DOMINATES super dirt late model
racing is no longer allowed/wanted in a WoO sprint
car.... Was Luna a miracle worker?

Best of luck to The Cub!!! We got to see him a couple of times last year at Eagle and I was darned well impressed with his abilities, given his small # of times in a sprinter.

Hoping to see BIG things out of this young man.

I am lucky enough to work at one of the best tracks
anywhere.

I agree DJW I didnt get that line either I sure hope he wasnt making an ugly remark about a tragic accident. Anyway good luck to Robby I was a huge fan of his fathers and hope to see him carry on the winning tradition Doug won the first race I ever attended at Knoxville in the early 80's and I've been a fan ever since

More weight, more regulation, more similarity in the
cars.... that will ensure plenty of thrills for years
to come. Only the most average talent behind the
wheel will be needed with such awesome equipment on
the track!

Sarcasm, perhaps meant to be humorous but in extremely poor taste.

SPRINT CAR RACING IS BETTER AND SAFER BECAUSE OF DOUG'S SUIT!

Better because his law suit has resulted in better safety awareness, resulting in policy changes specifically designed for sprint car incidents. These changes, without doubt have already saved lives and or serious injury.

Good luck to Robby on whatever his adventures be in 2009 as he was very impressive at the end of 2008.

As for the dumbasses doggin' Doug, go pick up the book and read it... but then again, it doesn't help that my 5th grade nephew can read better than you...

That case taught me some important facts of life & law: you can't sign away your "constitutional" rights.

Every time I've signed a waiver of any type since that case... I've thought to myself what a joke it was to have to do it. There is a precedent set that says it isn't valid. Why do we do it? Bluff I suppose.

The PUP... it would be great if he received the "Little E" royal treatment and a flock of loyal fans thanks to his father's legacy. There are expectations and pressure... but you have to like the opportunities awarded to you as well. It has to help a young driver's confidence to have a lot of people pulling for you in spite of you not earning the respect yet on the track.

Good luck to them! Wolfweld in victory lane... that's a nice mental image.

First of all, how does whatever his dad did, affect Robby? He is a completly different person, as far as I know anyway. Also, I was taught to forgive and forget, so IF (which I don't think he did) Doug did anything wrong, it was over 15 years ago. Get over it! Also, until you put yourself in the exact same situation, (third degree burns, loss of limb and more), how can you judge any person? You wouldn't let him in, whereas I would buy his and Robby's pit-pass just for coming! Lord knows how many more tickets they just sold me at the front-gate by being there!

I read the book and it cleared up any questions I had about Wolfs lawsuit , simply put, Doug was driving a racecar for a living, without driving (injury) he couldnt put the bread on the table, If you staple your finger at work and need stiches will your employers insurance cover it , or are you on your own? do you get the idea.., if not, just read the book.
