NCRA Gears for Oklahoma Modified/Sport Mod Opener
On Saturday night, March 21, 2009 there will be a first on three fronts as the O'Reilly/National Championship Racing Association will make their first ever appearance in Elk City, Oklahoma as Elk Citys I-40 Speedway will play host to the first ever Oklahoma modified and sport modified divisions.
A field of over forty drivers from both divisions are expected to embark on the 3/8th mile clay oval for the season opener in this one night extravaganza which will also see the tracks factory stocks, pro stocks and bomber divisions in competition for weekly points. There will be an open practice on Friday night, March 20 from 6:00 PM until 10:00 PM at the track. Pit passes will be $10.
Over 289 loads of new clay has been hauled onto the track by new promoters Brian Miller, David Miller, Jim Miller and David Louis for the upcoming 2009 race season which will see the track run under NCRA rules for both the tracks modified and sport modified divisions.
The Oklahoma modifieds will compete for $1000 to win with $200 to start the feature finale. All "B" feature non qualifiers will earn $100. There will be a $50 entry fee at time of draw. Steel heads are required for the new division but aluminum heads will be allowed with 50 lb weight added to the front of the motor. Tires required are the Hoosier IMCA or Hoosier 500 unstamped. The McCreary G-60 tire will be allowed however, drivers will not receive championship points for the year end point fund.
The sport modifieds will see the feature winner earn $500 with $100 for all drivers making the twenty car feature finale. All "B" feature non qualifiers will earn $50. Entry fee of $25 will be due at time of draw.
Pit gates will open at 3:00 PM with the checking in of cars at 5:00 PM. Racing will begin at 6:00 PM. Pit passes are $25 with grandstand admission for adults $8. Children ages 6-12 are $4 while ages 5 and under are admitted free.
More race, food and lodging information will be announced in the coming weeks for what will be the biggest racing event in the history of Elk City.
For more race information, contact Brian Miller (580) 799-3331 or log on to the tracks website http://www.elkcityi40speedway.com/.
