So George White and Kyle Pleasant at Cowtown and Ben Stephens, Michael Robertson and Shane Hebert at Milton, Keith Craft at SWASS, Lee Ray at Columbus and Todd Gray at the Ice Bowl have got us started on 2007. Now it steps up!

Steve Arpin's been rolling through the UMP stuff in Florida (except when interrupted by NASCAR's Kenny Wallace) and I'm sure he's going to give them ehll (that's Canadian for he11!) when they get over to East Bay on Wednesday and pay $1500 to win then, Thursday and again on Friday before it gets upped to $8000 to win on Saturday! I hope ol' Buzzie Reutimann (David's dad) gets the nose of his own #00 stuck in there on one or two of those nights!

But over here in Texas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Arkansas, Missouri and Oklahoma, we're getting ready for our richest stretch of the year in Modifieds.

This Friday night in Greenville, Texas the upteenth annual Longhorn Round-up starts at Super Bowl Speedway with $10,000 waiting for Sunday's winner. With past winners like Owens, Brooks, Donlinger, G. White, Billy Melton, Marlor and more and past competitors as diverse as Billy Moyer, Jack Hewitt and Paul White, there's a lot of history at this one too. With $500 just to start the B, $1000 to start the A and a total purse of over $50,000, there's sure to be a good car count at this one!

Then comes Febuary 23rd and 24th at Sabine Speedway in Many, Louisiana where a $20,000 purse will shell out $3500 to Saturday night's winner and $350 to start the A main.

Next up are two of the big dawgs for sure! The king of car counts -- the Texas Motor Speedway Dirt Track (180 cars last year) will race the Pro Cuts Texas World Championships on March 2nd & 3rd. Saturday night's winner will collect $3000 and the feature pays $700 to start plus non-qualifier money.

Further west at Southern New Mexico Speedway, it's the first annual Chub Daniels Memorial/Winter Meltdown on March 2nd, 3rd & 4th paying Sunday's winner $10,000 with $1000 to start the A, $700 to start the B and $400 to start the C. Eddie Martin will be among the racers shooting for $10Gs at that one!

Then we head to Razorback country for the 9th Annual GRT Race Cars Topless Nationals (with help from Coca-Cola & Larry Shaw Race Cars) on March 9th & 10th at I-30 Speedway in Little Rock. This one pays $7000 to win and $700 to start plus non-qualifier money.

Then it's off to the Ozarks for three independent shows at West Plains Motor Speedway's Justin Stanfill Memoril on March 15th, 16th & 17th in Missouri. Similar to a few of the USMTS southern series weekends this year, this one pays $1000 to win on Thursday, $2000 to win Friday and $3000 for Saturday & $100, $200 and $300 to start plus it has a three day point fund paying $1000 to win plus tow money.

Two more excellent opportunities in Arkansas and Louisiana will happen on the weekend of March 24th.

The 11th annual Mid-America Modified Championships at the Batesville Speedway. This year the MAMC adopts the more popular WMC format where heat races (draw for position) and a qualifying take place all three nights as opposed to having time trials. The race pays $8000 to win on Saturday night and $1000 to start with 24 cars starting the A. The total purse is over $40,000.

Also on March 23rd and 24th, is the Qwik Race Cars Spring Nationals at ArkLaTex Speedway. This one pays $2000 to win and $250 to start.

Next, some unfinished business from 2006. The Razorback Nationals from last November are set to conclude on Thursday, March 29th. $5000 goes to the winner at Wayne Tidwell's Centerville Super Speedway in Arkansas. They follow that up with a 2-day, $2500 to win event on March 30th and 31st.

Also on March 30th and 31st in north central Oklahoma, the USMTS Southern Series will kick off at Enid Speedway Park with a $2000 to win on Friday and a $3000 to win on Saturday.

After that, two more shows in Missouri and Arkansas on April 6th and 7th.

Lebanon-Midway's Modified Madness pays $6000 to win and $600 to start over the two days.

And down at Monticello, it's $2000 to win and $400 to start for their Madness over a two-day show.

Maybe, we stick to weekly racing on April 12th and 13th. I'm not sure of any big shows that weekend but the next week...

It's back to Sabine Speedway in Many, Louisiana on April 18th, 19th & 20th for the second weekend of the USMTS Southern Series with a $1000 to win Thursday, $2000 to win Friday and $3000 to win on Saturday format.

Maybe a week of hometrack racing on April 26th & 27th before...

A one night, $2500 to win, $250 to start first annual Doug Murphrey Memorial race on Saturday, May 5th a Fast Trax Speedway in Chatham, LA.

The next weekend?

It's back to Batesville for weekend #3 of the USMTS Southern Series with $2000 to win on May 11th and $3000 to win on May 12th.

Then it's just a week home and it's Memorial Day weekend. After that, it's time for the Outlaw Modified Series stretch at Champion Park, Texas Dirt Motorplex, 67 Texarkana Speedway and ArkLaTex Speedway but we'll save that one for later on...

Now, we just need all our rains to hit on Mondays and Tuesdays and leave our weekends alone!
