Brian Brown – Twas the Midgets!

(Bill W) December 19, 2008 – Grain Valley Missouri's Brian Brown has been busy of late helping the promoters of this weekend's Twas the Midgets Before Christmas event. Brian will not only have a hand in the preparations though, he'll also compete in a midget for the first time since 2003. This winter will include more racing opportunities "Down Under" as well as here in the states.

Brian will be teaming with a Wisconsin based team for this Friday and Saturday's event held in Kemper Arena in Kansas City, Missouri. "I'm driving for Bill Ecker down here in his #57K," says Brian. "(Media guru and National Midget Driver of the Year coordinator) Bryan Gapinski was able to make this deal happen, so I'd like to thank him too."

Brian admittedly has limited experience in the midgets. "My only other time in a midget was in Troy Parsons car at the Chili Bowl in 2003," he says. "There's a reason you haven't heard about it (broken jacob's ladder after meeting the wall)! We'll be o.k., and I'm really looking forward to it!"

Brian got some practice laps in before the event last night. "We practiced, and we're ready to go for Friday and Saturday," he explains. "It's something different, and if it works out, maybe we can go to the Chili Bowl too."

This week, Brian's duties have been sprinkled with the spice of variety. "I've been helping all this week, parking trailers and working on the track when I can," he says. "I'm just doing anything I can to help. We want to make this a great event, and hopefully, we'll get a lot of race fans here and put on a great show. We want to make this something that lasts a long time."

Brian's Q&A

Joe Franck asks: How is the off-season different for you as an owner compared to a driver?

Brian answers: Not much has changed really. We're doing the same preparations we've always done. We're just making sure that we get everything organized and in place before we head down to Florida in January with the SuperClean #21.
