Darryl Campbell is begging all members of the Speedway fraternity to help make Christmas for a battling Dubbo family a special time in 2008. The Morris family has had some bad luck lately and you can help turn it all around.

"It’s all about putting life into perspective, realising there are people who are less fortunate and more importantly, showing them that people care, even good old speedway people" explains Darryl. "After racing in Dubbo on Saturday night, with the misfortune of a DNF, I was a bit disappointed, being the self centred racer that I am. It’s the kind of feeling which lingers with you for the rest of the night.

However, my attitude was turned around after meeting a little 9 year old Angel. After the meeting, a first time attendee of the Speedway visited the truck to collect the prize she won in the www.sprintcar94.com giveaway. She was nine, just so polite, so well mannered. Her face had a smile from ear to ear and the girl was just so excited about winning this prize in front of her friends.

I noticed while speaking to her, the emotion on her mother’s face. The night was an overwhelming experience and her mother couldn’t believe her luck. She was so proud for her daughter. She went on to explain the heart condition her daughter suffered from, the dependence she has on an internal defribulater and the regular trips to Westmead Children’s Hospital for checkups and operations.

This made me realise how lucky I was to have a healthy, able body and how fortunate I am to be able to do all the things I love.

We returned to our accommodation, and shared this story with car owner Grant Heeley. Then and there we committed to making their Christmas something special. After calling around 90 Morris families in Dubbo, eventually finding a relative of the family, we learned her younger brother suffers from the same condition.

This appeal aims to show the generosity of the Speedway fraternity. We are calling on all Speedway teams, owners, officials and fans to donate merchandise, shirts, caps or toys to make a six year old boy and a nine year old girl’s Christmas one to remember. Please contribute to this worthy cause. We as a speedway family can make a difference to a family less fortunate."

Any enquires about the appeal should be made to:

Grant Heeley – 0400 880 256 or Darryl Campbell – 0438 307 317

Please send donations to:

c/o Darryl Campbell
PO Box 208
Penrith 2751

Thank you for supporting this cause

You want donations, but you don't even include the name of your state and you leave a digit out of your Zip Code. Or are you from outside of the United States? You're whole post is about as clear as mud. You probably have a good cause, but if I tried to mail you something from where I'm at, the Post Office would call that "Insufficient address." If you're aiming for just your own country's people with this post, you're missing the rest of us.

It was just a comment How good the people are in the sport .More than anything ,It makes you proud to be a Sprintcar FAN .

Let people know the track at Dubbo is 500 miles west of Sydney .

And 6 hour trip each time these people go to the hospital

Oh sorry, I thought it was a fund raising post. MAN, racing 6 hours from the nearest hospital. The people who race there are COMMITTED to the sport.
