The $18,000 Monticello Modified Madness, April 6th & 7th

The Chapmans at Monticello Speedway in southeast Arkansas have announced the details for the second annual Modified Madness on April 6th and 7th. The total purse is over $18,000. The A main will pay $2000 to win and $400 to start. The B mains will pay $150 to start. The C mains, $50 to start. The entry fee is $100 if postmarked by March 30th (a printable entry form will be available on-line soon and in the ad in the next issue of Hook's Dirt Track Review). $150 after March 30th. Pit Passes are $25 each night.

Here's the pay downs:

A main: 2000-1400-1200-1000-900-850-800-750-700-650-600-550-500-450-400 (starting 20 cars)

Two B mains: Top six transfer to A. 7th-250, 8th-200, 9th-175 and 10th through 16th get $150 (starting 16 cars in each B) So, at least 40 cars will go home with their money back or more!

The C mains will pay $50 to start. Must start a C on Saturday to be paid. No Modified pay on Friday night. Number of Cs will be determined by car count. 16 cars will transfer from the C mains to the Bs.

Practice and qualifying heat races for the Modifieds will be held on Friday night, April 6th at 8PM. Support classes TBA.

Standard non-sanctioned IMCA-type regional rules in use. Tires: Hoosier G60s or American Racer KK704s. Aluminum heads OK with 25 pounds of weights bolted on in front of the motor plate and on each side of the motor. (Total 50 pounds) Reverse mounted pumps and starters OK.

All Mods will run an 8-lap heat and then a 10-lap heat on Friday night. Draw for starting positions in the 8-lap heat. Number of heats determined by number of cars. The 10-lap heat will use the same draw inverted but there will be one less heat race in the second round. This may mean an extra car or two in each heat for the second round (therefore, slightly longer heats) but you don't race against the same cars twice this way. SUPR-style passing points will be used in both heat races. Points from both heats are added together for a points total.

Top 8 in points lock into A and will run a pole dash on Saturday. Next 16 lock into Bs ( 8 & 8 ). Rest to Cs. Ties are broken by best heat race finishing positions and then by the lowest draw number.

No passing points on Saturday.

Saturday schedule. Races start at 7PM.

- C main cars hot lap. (NOTE: Maybe 2 hot laps max, practice will be minimal on Saturday night so get your laps in on Friday! This will save time and save the track for better racing!)

- B main cars hot lap. (NOTE: Maybe 2 hot laps max, practice will be minimal on Saturday night so get your laps in on Friday! This will save time and save the track for better racing!)

(A main cars do not hot lap - they'll have a dash)
