I have to say I always get excited for a live tv show but never again will I. I thought the coverage last night was terrible.. In May when the Outlaws were at Lowes they showed qualifying and everything.. Last night we didnt even get to see the Last Chance Showdown.. I think with three hours of coverage they should be able to get 10 heat races done with 4 b-mains and the a-mains.. It wasnt bad enough we couldnt watch the last chance showdown then they didnt even say who the transfer cars were. I dont no I jus didnt really like the way they did things last night at all not after the last time I watched them on Speed at Lowes everything was live and not tape delayed.

I don't know if I was watching a rerun but it was on from 10pm to 1am here in CA. Did they show it earlier and I missed it? Anyway, I watched the four sprint heat races and then decided I didn't want to sit through the late model racing and turned it off. Maybe I missed out on something great but I'm guessing not. I'm not a huge Donny fan but I have to admit that during his short sit down with Dave D. he was fairly well spoken, at least by comparison to previous interviews I've seen.

They showed the original broadcast live from 5 to 8 Pacific on Saturday.

It was tape delayed last year, too. You could listen to it on DirtVision and watch it later on Speed. You just about have to do that just in case something happens that delays the race. I realize it's not perfect, but at least we had sprint cars on television.

they qualified on thursday for both the friday and sat shows so there was no qualifying on sat. i thought it sucked that we saw no lcs and there was no mention of it's finish or of the c main.

The late models actually had better side by side racing than the sprints, the winner started in 8th.

Thats right the late models did put on the better show,,,,,,,it doesn't always work out that way but they are more evenly matched.I am a die hard sprint car fan but facts are facts. The sprint cars had a much harder time passing no doubt. All in all it was a good show even though the sprint feature on sat. didn't show it.

i am sort of jaded, but i have been to a whole lot of the "live" shows over the years and had to sit and wait on speed, tnn, whoever... being at the race, it was kind of cool, they kept things going and we never waited on tv... i am sure it sucked for those at home, but for those of us at the races everything went real quick...

I wish Earl still did Eldora's track prep.

I will say Cody Darrah looked smoother than anybody. He is a real talent without a doubt. He could make a great addition to the outlaw tour. MOST IMPRESSIVE DRIVER THERE!

The best part was that we didn't miss any live action while they beat us to death with shots from the cursed in car cameras.

TV does it again. More no passing racing, difficult to follow format. Why do we continue to think that televising our form of the sport will somehow generate new fans and broader support? This has been going on since the early 70's with basically the same result. Only exception being the "Thunder" series of the 80's.

Yes he was,and we have the pleasure of seeing this young man every week here in PA. He is one hell of a gasser, and not affraid to STAND ON THE LOUD PEDAL!!!! I will even go out and say he is and will be a lot better than Lucas Wolfe.

Its a way of dumbing down the term "B-Main" for the rubes.

What does the presence of TV cameras have to do with the quality of the racing?

You're right about the format. It was a 3 hour telecast, so they could have spent 2 minutes explaining the qualifying procedure.

Despain was the bright spot of the entire night and should have been on the microphone during the races.

I listened to the race on Dirt while watching the Speed coverage. They didn't make much mention of the fantastic run Cody Darrah had. Had to go to the tail after the first lap and then worked his way back to finish 9th. Now that is good racing.

I think the TV tries to dumb things down to maybe get a few new fans when they could really get the seasoned fans to tune in if they were more tuned into what constitues a good race. You know, like watching the transfer spots for some of the best racing in the C and B (when they show them).

Between listening and watching, I wasn't even sure they were the same race.

Why even dumb things down? If people are interested enough to watch they will figure it out and/or ask people who know. I learned the rules of hockey just from watching and listening and asking my uncle ONE question. John Madden uses truckloads of football terms when he describes replays and the fans just eat it up. If the NFL fans had to put up with one weekend of dumbed downed style coverage they be up in arms.

I wish that they would have Johnny Gibson doing the race calls and Brad and Bobby doing the commentary in between races. Johnny makes the races exciting. Brad and Bobby seem to think they need to tell us a story about one of the drivers while the race is going on. You end up missing most of the race listening to fun facts about the drivers or teams that I don't care about. I want to know when Cody is passing his way from the back!
