Special Campaign Created to Raise Funds for Josh Howard’s Physical Therapy
$20,000 needed for specialized therapy; no insurance

Jetmore, KS (October 22, 2008) - A special fund has been established to collect donations needed for Josh Howard’s physical therapy.
Howard took a terrible tumble at the Short Track Nationals in Little Rock on October 25, 2007. He suffered a broken neck on the final lap of his qualifying race during the opening night of the 20th Annual Short Track Nationals at Little Rock's I-30 Speedway in his #20 sprint car. His injury left him paralyzed from the neck down.
“Right after the accident the doctors told us, Josh would never move anything below his neck. He was labeled a c4/c5 complete, said Howard’s mother, Lynn Howard. “We were told he had a three in one hundred chance of walking again. With his determination and God's help we are proving them wrong. He can now move his arms, hands, lumbar muscles and shoulders and when the electrical stimulations machine is put on his legs, they move also.”
The prognosis for Howard is encouraging. Nearing the anniversary of this horrible tumble, Howard has been readmitted to Atlanta's ShepherdCenter, which specializes in spinal cord injuries. It is anticipated that Howard will be at the center for up to eight weeks; one of the goals of the intensive physical therapy is to regain fine motor skills in his hands.
Last March Howard’s health insurance coverage ran out and Medicaid will not pay for this specialized therapy because it is out of state. Other fundraisers have helped pay Howard’s medical bills to-date but will soon be depleted. The $20,000 goal will be used for physical therapy, doctor visits, medication and family expenses while in Atlanta.
Donations are being accepted through the Steve King Foundation to help the Howard family with these medical expenses. All contributions are tax-deductible.

Donations can be made online at www.SteveKingFoundation.org or mailed to
