Damn I'd liked to have seen Mike Brecht take the win. Good job anyway. I look for him to take the Big cars one of these days @ the 4 Crown.

Where were all the non wing guys at this year? Sure seemed to be a lot of them missing in action.

Gambler: If you go find the complete results there were quite a few wingless guys there. Guys like Darland and Kruseman the defending champ of the race are in New Zealand racing midgets. I think the wingless guys held there own pretty good at East Bay once again.

I think speading out the races like they did, keeping the teams down there for a whole week to run 3 nights kept a lot of teams at home. After last years events I figured there would be 50-60 cars just from listening to the teams throughout the season talk. With the race one night sit one night it made it hard to justify all of the extra costs with being on the road that long and only running 3 nights.

If East Bay would have ran the nonwinged portion 3 straight nights I believe you would have gotten a lot more IN nonwingers to come down but with the alternating format you had to spend the entire week in FL which drives up the cost of the trip plus it is early in the year to burn up a chunck of vacation time. Hopefully next year they will go back to the 3 straight nights.

That is kind of what I though, the format caused a lot of them to stay away. I don't quite understand what their thinking was on that every other night deal. Anyone know the reason for the change in format?

The reason stated was to get the Fri. and Sat. Finales back to back to pump up the Fri. night gate and get a better total fan count. Apparently it didn't make that much difference due to weather, et al. When Rich Vleck was talking to Emmitt Hahn on the radio broadcast, Emmitt said they would probably revert to the 3-3 format of prior years, next year.
