I'm not sure if this has been posted or observed by anyone yet so here goes.
Welcome Back to Sprint Car Racing RICHARD DAY. For many, many years Richard did the PR et al and was the 'handyman' for the World of Outlaws, tied to his chair in their office. With the passing of the torch and some changes in his life (for the better) he left to pursue other interests and he is now back and going strong again. The sport is better off as a result to boot.
I am not sure if most of you people knew but Richard wrote those hundreds and hundreds of race reports and breakdowns without ever seeing 99% of the races and what a job he did. He had mega help from Greg Stephens and Johnny Gibson and Art Mailles as well but he still made them real and accurate.
He is writing press releases for some drivers these days and if you are looking for some help in this area he might be the guy to talk to. Having just typed that I have not asked him, but what the hey, we can all use a little coin. Nice to hear from you again ol' friend and all the best with your new bride and new job. Take It Easy....
PS If you ever get your hands on any current W of O's press releases they are gems as well, Tony Veneziano does one heckuva job and gets the message across very well...

Hey Mike. I just read somewhere that Richard is doing Brandon Wimmer's public and media relations now.

Ole Richard Day. Yep, back in the mid 80's I would always call the WoO for brief results or during the offseason to try to get local WoO race schedules and we would always talk. One of the nicest guys and best PR people ever and somebody who never got the kudos he deserved while with the WoO.
Welcome back, Richard.

The other one I would say who never got the credit he deserved was Greg Stephens. Had the pleasure of being in the press box at several WoO races in the mid - 80's and saw Greg at work. Running the camera, running down the stairs and into the press box, entering results in the computer and then back out to film. Plus he always had the WoO highlights on the race shows on Sundays. In my opinion he was just as much responsible for the popularity of the WoO as anybody behind the scenes. Plus his one man camera work puts production people to shame.
