Thought there was a WoO sprint race on speed yesterday, but it was a WoO late model race. During breaks in its two B-mains, driver after driver already locked in was interviewed and each said the same thing, "the track is too fast right now but hopefully it'll smooth off for the feature" or "there's to much bite out there right now, but hopefully by A-main time it will be ok" or "the track needs to slick off for the feature, its too fast". What the devil were they talking about. Too fast?? Sounded like they were peeved that the track had been watered in. Sounded crazy. And when is a track ever too fast?
Adding $6 trillion of debt in his 1st term and now if
elected again he wouldn't have to worry about an
electorate in 2016 so the sky is the limit. And his EPA
would continue to put the screws to oil drilling and
mining for coal. Can you say bankruptcy.

What they mean is that the track was too tacky and there would be very little passing at that time. It's just like with the sprint cars. On a tacky track, everybody is fast so it will be a high speed parade. When a tracks starts to slick off, the better cars and drivers can go to the front.

Steve Kinser made basically the same statement at the WoO race at 34 Raceway in Burlington a few weeks ago. Track was so tacky and fast it never widened out so there was not much passing.
Thank God we have Brad Doty on the Sprint car shows. That color guy on the LM broadcast sounded BORED and answered most questions by starting with "well, ya know...."

Those things are just one big wing. I used to love the Late Models but when the wedgie body crap started in the 80s I lost interest. I prefer the lower fendered divisions where the cars aren't 20 feet long and twelve feet wide.
Which is ANOTHER reason it's hard to pass in a Late Model.

Twice since I started working at Eagle we've had series people tell us to stop watering the track. Both were the World of Outlaws (sprint and late model) folks. Then, when they got what they wanted, they wanted us to water.
But, the Late Models REALLY, REALLY like it dry-slick.
I am lucky enough to work at one of the best tracks
anywhere.

2 FAST = everybody's equally fast = no passing at all. The only person cheering is the one on the pole.
That's when a track is too fast, jeff24.
