and so the trend continues as ASCS has for the first time expanded west of the Rocky Mountains with the Arizona-bases Canyon Region. And the director will be none other than Ron Shuman. I may be way off-base but from the outside lookin in I would say there isn't a better person they could have runnin a region out in Arizona. But if the National Tour is to have races out there thats gonna be in even more miles for teams already rackin em' up right now. Either way.....ASCS continues to kick ass and take names as by far the TOP of the 360 sprint series.

By the way, where does SCRA come into this? Will any of the Canyon region events be wingless?

If they are going to be a "National" tour shouldn't they have to travel nationally? The scra is now just a 360 group that is run by Richard Harvey that use to live and race here in OKC. I think Shuman still owns the name but I don't know how much he has to do with it.

The website said there will be wing and non-wing races.

If I read the SCRA website correctly, they run ASCS type rules - only wingless. With Ron Shuman in the mix, it should be a successful venture.

Speaking of Richard Harvey, Jr., my most memorable moment of him was on a Tuesday night practice night at SFS when the city first went to a sprint car chassis. He went full throttle down the backstretch, flipped and broke his leg. Now, almost twenty years later, has a chassis company that specialises in non-wing racing.

He started that chassis co. here before he moved. I believe he called it STINGER chassis because he welded them with stick not tig. I also saw where Brian Harvey ran a midget.

yeah David (Jones) I totally agree they should have to run Nationally. Its just very odd to me b/c there are times they schedule one night shows that are an awfully long tow for many drivers. And WoO does the same thing. I don't understand why the schedules cannot be more consolidated. But I'm sure they work their rears of a ton to get their schedule put together. Could it be more driver/team friendly? I think so. But this years ASCS Schedule looks awfully good --- way better than last years. I'm interested in where they could have their SPEEDWEEK TBA date however. For where they are running 1 would not think that there is a lot of prospects for that TBA date. It's right inbetween Little Rock(7-14) and Texarkana's (7-18) date, but with open nights on either side. I was wondering where you fellas thought that race could be ran? (the TBA date is 7-16)

Also what happened to the 2 Memphis tracks running ASCS races? I saw that The Ditch still runs some USCS races, but no ASCS in awhile. Whats up with that?

Yeah and the National Championship Racing Association, in excistance since 1970, should be changed as they never have ran nationally either. Geez.

There is only one Memphis track now as the dirt track at Memphis Motorsports Park is gone gone.

As I read it, this region would be all wingless. Either way, the 360's at Manzanita are BAAADDD....

I remember three or four years ago, Jeremy Sherman running at the front of the field against the best nonwing 410's in the west on the big 1/2 mile at Manzy.

Just over a week until "The Copper" and I can't wait to get out there for serious racing, desert air, In n Out burgers and green burros and cheese crisps at the track.

Sprint cars in Arizona are awesome!

Didn't know you were going back to Manzy, must be rough. I will wait for your details when I see you at the ASCS national race at SFS in March as I trust you will be there.

Jennifer's dad and I decided that this was a show we couldn't miss. Going out fairly cheaply thanks to Southwest Airlines, Hotwire and Dollar Rent a Car. Hopefully the weather will be better than they've had in recent weeks.

Three classes, no wings and great seats three rows from the top at the start/finish line. It doesn't get any better in the desert.

Just saw that fifteen of the twenty-three races now scheduled will be at Manzy, including the 360 version of the prestigous Western World Championships on October 5-6.
