Ideal Ready Mix Sprint Invaders set to Invade West Liberty Raceway
Come join us for anther exciting night of racing this Saturday night, July 5th at the West Liberty ½ mile oval. Can anyone top last years exciting run by Jerrod Hull… coming through the B-Main and taking the lead on the white flag lap?
$1,200 to win… $200 to start. Hope to see ya there!
For those of you coming from the south… The back way is not accessible. You need to get on Interstate 80 and drop down. Here is a link to the Iowa D.O.T map showing road closures... http://hb.511ia.org/main.jsf I just talked to an IA DOT employee (my wife). She said that Hwy 61, to Hwy 92 (north from Columbus Jct.) then 70 would also work. Hwy 22 is closed east of Nichols and Hwy 6 is closed west of Wilton.

I almost forgot....
In keeping with the "2008, Year of the Fan" theme... This Saturday night, at West Liberty, we will be giving away a one night stay for two adults at the Catfish Bend Casino in Burlington, Iowa for August 16th Twin Feature Night at 34 Raceway.

If you come through Muscatine, take G-28 (Hershey Road) to Hwy 70 go right into Nichols, take another right in Nichols on the Main drag which is Hwy 22 and go about 3-4 miles take a left at the T intersection and will take you into West Liberty a short 5 or so miles later

If you have never been to West Liberty, it is a hidden jewel. An old fairgrounds half mile that drives more like a bullring due to the D shape and different shaped corners. Several old, old trees line the inside of turns 1 & 2 that apparently are "living memorials" to people that must have passed away in the late 1800's. One of the best late model weekly shows in the country will be running as a support division Saturday night.

Hey Paintboss... will that route work for the big haulers?

Yes that route should work fine. You come into WL from the south side on Highway 70 and where the highway takes a sharp curve to go into the downtown area and meet up with Highway 6, the haulers would just go straight on A Street and come out just north of the pit gate.
West Liberty is a jewel. It's just too bad this race had to be opposite Knoxville's Twin Features. It's going to be really weird having sprint cars in my back yard at my home track and being over 100 miles away.

For those who do come in with haulers from the north from I80, I would suggest making a right on East Second Street (immediately after the railroad tracks, across from the Case implement dealer). It is a wider street designed for trucks and a wider corner when you get to the stop sign. Then take a left on Calhoun and you'll come right to the fairgrounds.

I apologize for this but at the Hwy 61 bypass / G-28 (Hershey Ave) intersection in Muscatine is under construction as they are putting in an overpass. This route will still workbut you will need to follow the detour signs up to Hwy 22 west and cut back down to G-28 on High Prairie road. The detour is plainly marked out and it sounds harder than it is but could still save you quite a few miles out of your way depending where you are coming from.
Haulers! I want to say you would be just fine as it is all 2 lane blacktop (no gravel)
Hwy 61 bypass to 22 west out of Muscatine to High prairie road (watch for the detour sign) this will take you to G-28 will come to a T go right, takes you across Cedar River to Hwy 70 to a T intersection, Turn Right on Hwy 70 and go into Nichols, Turn right in Nichols at the flashing light takes you to another T, Turn left at the T now you are headed straight into West Liberty. As you just get into Liberty you will hit a sweeping left hand turn, once you make that turn the race track is dead ahead of you.

pork tenderloins that are better than Knoxville's ever were too! Most likely the concessions will have some sort of item on the menu that they normally don't serve....something special that is ALWAYS delicious.
Mitch Swenson does a great job with his "Little Racer Car Club" for the younger fans. If you bring someone under the age of 14, be sure to look up Mitch underneath the grandstands. I know that they have an autograph session, prize drawings and candy dash for sure....maybe more activities planned. Below is a link to what he has going this week.

(Duano, if you make it to West Liberty, look Mitch up and tell him I said hello....you two think alike and I believe can benefit each other's efforts)

Sound like the kids are going to make out like bandits. Sprint Invaders will be bringing all its regular juniorvaders stuff plus the Frisbee toss after the dash. I hope this stays a regular tradition around the 4th of July. I can't think of any place better to be than a place with LIBERTY in the name on the 4th. of July weekend.
God Bless the troops and all who serve this 4th.
Tell me how much money you got and I'll tell you how
fast you can go!

Firecracker 50 means 25 laps for LM and 25 laps for sprints.

Anyone that missed the races last night at West Liberty missed a great show.
The Invaders put on a stellor show as always and the fire works were awesome.
The late models mods and 4 cylinders were competive and exciting also.
Congrads to Josh and crew for a job well done.
