For those that haven't heard, Clyde decided last week that he was going to drop the MiniStocks. But I guess he was gonna wait till people started asking to make an official announcement, but he has yet to return many emails and phonecalls from numerous people or made an official announcement. There are many upset people about this, because he hasn't given the MiniStock drivers from his track a chance to defend themselves. It was liable to be an interesting points chase this year with Rodney Harper not running. But I guess we'll never know.
Thanks for your support Clyde.

Well, head to Meeker or Enid - or both.

The MiniStocks were supposed to race this year. The car count was this season was going to decide wether or not the class would be dropped at the end of 2007. The MiniLateModels still have a smaller car count than the MiniStocks. Plus, Kenny Kelch backed out on building the MiniLateModels, so there isn't any more now then there was at the end of 2006, I believe that there may be 4 or 5 cars total. So you ditch a class with a proven history for a class that couldn't get off its feet in Texas for that matter. Don't get me wrong I would have a MiniLateModel if I could afford it. It just doesn't make a whole lot of since to not give the MiniStock one more season like it was supposed to have been.

My reason for wanting to race I44 is that it is only 15 minutes or so from my house. Scott Hartline, his family and I worked 6 to 7 days a week for 2 months to get my car ready to race before the season was over at I44. I got 1 night of practice and 2 nights of racing the last week of the season. I44 was the closest place for my family and friends to see me race without having to drive an hour or more. I would love to keep it that way. I used to go to Lawton almost every Saturday to help CA Nix with his modified. I know how the ruff and tuff the MiniStocks are there. I'm not saying that racing is supposed to be as clean a ballet dancing, but I would like to keep my car in racing condition beyond the first night, at Lawton if your slow you get run over and if your faster than the local boys you get runover, there is no give and take. And as long as Meeker has a gravel road for a race track and Mark Brill running the place then forget it, I'll take my chances at Lawton or Fort Cobb.

yes racer has a point. Brill does seem to have better principals in promoting than he does in racing. But what does any of this thread matter as long as EVERY PROMOTER in Oklahoma cares more about making money at the back gate than doing anything to help dirt track racing(fans and drivers) in Oklahoma. Races only happen b/c of drivers and fans. And the drivers especially get taken advantage of very badly.
BTW I never did and still don't think Meeker will work. Car counts weren't absolutely blowing through the roof at any Sat. night race track in Oklahoma(although they were decent at Lawton, CCS, and Enid). I suppose Brill started that track back up b/c a lot of guys at SFS said they wished they could still race there. Well he built it..........and they still haven't came. Who knows what will happen in the short term or long term.................

I had heard that Clarence Dutton & Terry Courtney were taking Ft Cobb back over. Just wondering if anyone else had any more info on that.
