If any of the races are 1/2 as good as Terre Haute was last Thursday night, your in for a heck of a race.

You guys are in for a good show. I've seen all those guys run, the last time at the Copper on dirt and their just getting better! There are some youngsters that are starting to give the old guard a run for there money every time out as well. Some of your local boys show up and root for them against the "BIG BOYS" and you have good time. Of couse I'll take Shuman, Boat, Coons Jr, you know where I live..LOL

Yea, I'd love to see Rahmer, Hammer, Leppo, Dewease, and etc. take the roof off.
Half of them wouldn't run if they had to run wingless.

There is no way that he could be considered a favorite against that bunch. Pauch is good, but no way that he could ever be considered a favorite, your favorite maybe, but not to win.

Pauch not a favorite - have you not been paying attention to his career for the last 30 years? You don't win 600 features by accident. Pauch has beaten USAC/SCRA/CRA before and he's at the wheel of one of the best cars in Pennsylvania. If he would have ran sprints his entire career, instead of running mostly modifieds from the late 70s through early 90s, he'd be among the leaders in all-time wins at the Grove or Lincoln or wherever he ran. As it is, he has 50+ wins in sprints. And Pauch isn't Posse - he's always been from Frenchtown, NJ. The Posse can claim the car, but not the driver!

No disrespect to Pauch and I didn't say it was impossible, just improbable.This is a great bunch with USAC this year and I know them well.
Look, I understand where you're coming from. I've spent most, if not all of my life, 60years, rooting for the AZ and California boys to beat USAC when they came to town to run against CRA, SCRA and anybody else who threw their hat in the ring. USAC came to town a few years ago and ruined 50+ years of that tradition by staying... That homogenised the whole deal and that took a lot of the fun out of it. I've seen "our" guys from CRA,SCRA spank em more than once and maybe even run with the national series for awhile, but they were still our guys and they mostly came home to run either Ascot and Manzy and now Perris.
Have fun rooting for the old pro to beat those USAC guys but that's one good bunch of traditional sprintcar drivers, and I see 3 Arizona boys in the top ten. Jerry is always a threat, Casey is running great this year and young Chad could have a good night, he's due.

Would be interesting to see them at Williams Grove (paperclip) 110 mph down the straight aways and backin them into the corners at 35 mph. Wish it was live stream on the internet. Is there a live broadcast for any of these races?

Been waiting for this ever since they announced it..coming up from NC to catch the shows at Grandview and the Grove...should be great racing...hoping for a few more locals to give it a shot without the wings...by the way Billy Pauch in the Zemco car is worth the price of admission alone..you can bet he will drive the wheels off of it

I believe Pauch finished 3rd in the race at Grandview last year. He gets around that track pretty good from what I've heard. Defeated the SCRA there in August of 2002 as well.
Levi Jones is looking pretty good on the dirt right now so I'm picking him as the man to beat next weekend.
Hoping Daron Clayton can get the monkey off of his back and get a win in pa. next week. Maybe Big Diamond.
Oh yeah can anyone confirm if TK and the McMillen team will be there?

Eastern racing heroes Fred “Fast Freddie” Rahmer and Billy “The Kid” Pauch are expected to be among drivers competing in next week’s USAC National Sprint Car races in Pennsylvania and Maryland.
Rahmer, of Salfordville, Pa., has nearly 400 career Sprint car wins to his credit and is a multi-time track and racing series champion. A dozen of his track titles have been recorded at tracks involved in the Eastern Swing.
Pauch, of Frenchtown, N.J., is the reigning Modified Track Champion at Bridgeport (N.J.) Speedway and is a former three-time New Egypt Speedway track champ. In four career NASCAR Craftsman Truck starts he scored a sixth at Flemington, N.J. in 1998. His racing career includes nearly 650 feature victories in various racing disciplines.
Next week’s Eastern Tour begins on Tuesday night at Grandview Speedway in Bechtelsville, Pa. Wednesday night’s race is at the famed Williams Grove (Pa.) Speedway and Thursday night’s race is at Big Diamond Raceway in Minersville, Pa. The finale is Saturday night at Hagerstown (Md.) Speedway.
The Tony Stewart Racing team, led this season by defending USAC National Champion Levi Jones and Tracy Hines, won all three Eastern Tour events last year. Jones won at Grandview and Hagerstown and Ricky Stenhouse Jr. won at Big Diamond. Wednesday’s race at Williams Grove continues a rich tradition of USAC racing at that historic oval which last hosted USAC in 1996. That race was won by none other than Billy Pauch!
Jones currently leads the USAC National standings, 20 points ahead of Oklahoma’s Brady Bacon. Jones already has 2008 victories at Brownstown, Ind. and in the recent “Tony Hulman Classic” at Terre Haute, Ind.

Big Fish, I read where "Bullet Bob" Ream is scheduled to run USAC in PA. He is an Arizona driver. And while on the subject, why isn't he winning anymore?

I remember when ASCA started up that 360 deal in 91. I was living in Phoenix at that time and made most Saturday night open wheel shows. It was clear from the start that we had 2 drivers, both Jr's, who were destined to become the stars of the show. I'm sure you know the other Jr was Charles Davis Jr, chargin Charlie. Both drives have had some stellar years with Charlie having a SCRA victory at Manzy and was running consistently well with big boy's.
To tell the truth I was wondering what was wrong with Charlie last year, Sherman was kicking butt big time. I didn't even think about Ream that much, but I did post on the ABCMOTORSPORTS.COMS's forum that I thought Charlie might have lost the chargin part of his name, I was wrong! He got a new car late last year and started giving Jeremy all he wanted and more, it's continued this year.
It might be his ride but I don't think so, I could be wrong. In my opinion (I hope I don't get pushed off the top row for this) Ream reached his peak some time ago and when tries to drive past that level he gets in trouble. Don't get me wrong, he's one hell of a driver but we have a lot of talent here in AZ, always have, and when Casey who seems to have stepped up a level, and Boat, who will get there soon shows up. Well mix those guys in with the other young chargers, guys like RJ Johnson just to name one who would be running a 410 full time if things were different and you have a stout field of cars and drivers. http://www.bobream.com/about_bullet.html

Thanks Kenny. I have never seen Ream run as he has not been out to CA. recently. I always kind of liked him - maybe its the cool color of the car. Your right about R.J. Johnson and young Boat, they are on course to be big winners soon. Are you driving over for the big race in Victorville today. I am leaving (Long Beach area) around 1:30 to get there early for hot laps. It should be a barn-burner thats fer sure. Hoping the "Cowboy" does good, he will start in the back for the 20K if given the opportunity and he is always a fast qualifier.

Wish I were, it's exciting to see this happening. I've never kept it a secrete about how I feel about USAC, a welcome visitor, staying in our part of the sprint car world.
