redraw for the feature, top 4 from each heat. so could start as far back as twelve, even if you win your heat. Good question though, cause I thought they qualified there. Why bother?

time trials at any track are a total waste of time and energy.

Makes for good racing on a good track. Time trials, invert for heat races. Top in heat races, redraw. Means the top finishers don't always start at the front. I like races that involve passing.

I like inverts, but time trials are a great way to delay a program so that the families with kids can get home late with cranky kids.

On an ever changing dirt track, in 40 years of watching, I still haven't figured out what time trials accomplish, or what it proves.

In the "old" days of the barnstormers. when 6 or 8 cars were forced to put on a 2 hour show, time trials were a great way to fill time so that the crowd got their monies worth.

The system Knoxville uses for the 360's and that Husets uses for their 360's, good racing almost always happens even without the track wasting time trials.

When the tracks start thinking about the kids who get cranky, and the adults that travel a long way to the races, they will be on track to start filling the stands again.

Dwindling car counts in the 410 division every year since they went away at Huset's and now that its back, shockingly, the car counts have risen dramatically. Its not just the number of cars but the quality of cars on the track. Its 1 lap, not 2, on the clock so its not making that big of difference to the track. If you don't like them, show up after them, simple as that.

I can live with one lap, but what you fail to understand however is that I have 360 miles to travel AFTER the races, and a job at 7:30 am so getting there after time trials has little affect on the real issues.

I have made the trip dozens of times, and I have to admit that Husets does a fantastic job of starting on time, and has a good record of decent finishing times.

Racing on Sunday nights has its own set of issues with the crowds including early in the year, racing is on a school night as well as a work night.

Do you have a major problem with drawing for heat races.

Do you prefer to cater to the sub-contract 1099 entertainers or the paying customer?

Racers will always gripe about the format and the pay, but they must remember that they are simply the entertainment at the track owners Bar & Grill.

Overall, I give Husets at least a B+ grade.

I must laugh at the fact that you seem to equate the addition of 3 WoO regulars to the weekly program to the fact that there are time trials, rather than the fact the WoO has simply lost 3 people off the tour who want to race closer to home now.

Let me assure you that Lasoski, Tatnell and Henderson have faced worse things in their career than lack of the advantage of time trials give. lol

It sure as hell didn't hurt those former WoO regulars to have a top 6 starting spot in the heat since there are time trials now instead of starting at the back of the heat for missing a week or being new. The format is bringing in those cars for the 1-time stops instead of scaring them away as in years past. And its those 1-time stops that can lead to more visits throughout the year.

drawing for position can accomplish the same thing, and not assist in ruining the track for passing later on also.

What is the purpose of crediting a guy for time trials if you are going to penalize him (or her) with an invert?

Racing is passing NOT following.

I'm truly surprised to see a Henderson fan complaining that he wasn't on the front row...

So far the earlier  starting time and time trials has accomplished is rubber down  follow the leader racing 2 nights out of 5.  With as many good cars as they have been getting there will always be someone capable of winning on the front row. 4 of 5 have been won from the front row and the other came from row 2. The only advantage I see to time trials is a new car will not have to start at the rear in the heat race if he times decent.

Cranky kids?  That's their fault for breeding. ;)  You can solve that by duct taping them in the closet while you're gone.
