Is it just me or wouldn't it be nice to SEE the races LIVE. I have emailed the Chili Bowl powers that be and suggested they should put it on when it happens. A perfect suggestion would be a pay per view option.Greg at motorsports video puts out awesome coverage of his events. With that they could air all the nights and the package options could vary. I would get the whole weeks worth to see that every night as it happens. There could be involvement with the sponsers to get national exposure and the list goes on. I have heard back at one time mentioning the fact that there would be a worry that people would stay home and not fill up the stands. This is the CHILI BOWL folks. The only true bowls in the year are the Super Bowl and the Chili Bowl and the later is better in my opinion. The one thing funny is there is so little going on in racing at this time of year and the hardcore race fans like me are getting "racesick" for the new season to start. You get a event like this that is not for points and the normal race event. You are getting the best racers from every type of racing. This is the race of the whos whos in the racing world all under the same roof going for that golden driller. I just wish I could go. I envy you all who is there. With my job and family life that trip is not and option at this time, but for sure in the hopefully near future. So now I am glued to the computer as I have been for the last couple of years just to hear it as it happens. It is nice to see it back when the DVDs come out but that could be late February. So come on guys the Chili Bowl is one of the biggest races in sports. Make it available to the world and the world WILL watch. With it on TV we will still the sold out crowd on the show. I promise you that. Good luck to all the drivers.
Brent
ps Come on racing boys...you are killing me....funny there are SOOOO many people wanting to hear it that we probably blew up their computer network!!!

Couldn't agree more Brent. Australia is a long way from Tulsa and although I have been to the Chili Bowl (1997) it's a bit hard to go each and every year.
If live video streaming can occur out of a speedway in a place called Mildura in country Victoria in our country, then I'm sure it could be arranged out of Tulsa.
I too would buy the "weekly ticket" and watch avidly each night. Or afternoon as is the case here.
For a guaranteed sell out event, I can't understand why it's not done in this day and age.
$30 x 2,000 payers makes for a good pay day for someone.

About 5 or 6 years ago they had a pay per veiw in about 8 states. You had to drive to where it was being shown. Must have not gone over very well.

It doesn't matter who does it they all fail. I have never listened to a webcast that hasn't had problems.
Here is why they all fail They do not have enough bandwidth to support the listeners. On a 10Mb connection you can only support about 500 users brodcasting audio only. 100Mb connection you could support 5000 audio listeners. If you want to support 5000 listeners it will set you back about $5000 per month in server bandwidth fees.

The RacinBoys.com Chili Bowl Webcast was not functioning at first, because someone purposely flooded the website by programming their computer to login up to 700,000 times.
The RacinBoys were prepared with enough bandwidth after last year's success with the number of hits, but no server can withstand that many login attempts at the same time.

I don't seem to be able to make it through a single day anymore without asking myself this question:
Why are there SO many a$$holes out there anymore?

Exactly.
Was on track to be a flawless first night of action through the webcast... I was listening earlier during practice sessions, everything was clear sailing.
People purposely flooding websites, ruining something that tons of others look forward to taking part in... $900.00 being stolen out of a race trailer, geesh.

any chance of finding out where this came from? there's got to be a trail back to where the 700,000 came from. at least one slimebag would get their due!

My guess would be that the flood came from everyone that lost the connection do to it being overloaded. When the system was overloaded everybody's computer tried making a new connection or everyone hit refresh and the problems multiplied since the server was overloaded from all the users trying to connect. Happens every time. I would bet it happens again tonight. Works early on when no one is on but when race time comes everyone gets on and there goes the server. They will not be able to stream this from one server it will be way too much load for one server. This needs to be streamed from multiple servers.
If there were 5000 users trying to connect and they all hit refresh 20 times that would be 100,000 users trying to connect to a overloaded server. There is no way it will work. The media player is also trying to connect and reconnect when it gets dropped.
Add all that up and you probably get 700,000 + connections.
How many times did you try to connect?
How many users do you think tried connect?

Have live streaming on PPV basis over web for Oswego Speedway and got to watch the International Classic as couldn't make it this year. Was good coverage considering the amount of cameras around 5/8ths mile track.
Chili Bowl is a smaller track and shouldn't take much more than 3 cameras? I'd pay $20 to see the chili bowl on the web LIVE.
This is 21st century and can easily broadcast this over the internet

I didn't say it couldn't be done. If someone wants to do it right it will take a lot of cash and it can not be a free broadcast unless they get a lot of advertisers. It will have to be payper view.

I agree with your scenario, but that was not the case. The 700,000 login attempts came from the same username, and when they get back into town, they are going to look further into it to attain the IP Address. If they find out who it is, they will prosecute.
