Jonathan Allard wins Piston Cup at BIS

By Gary Thomas

January 7, 2006... Chico's Jonathan Allard has shown glimpses of speed in the first two rounds of USA Sprintcars at the Brisbane International Speedway having scored finishes of sixth and fifth. He looked to be on cusp of breaking out with a big performance and on Saturday night he did just that as he won the main event, making it his first career win in Australia.

Jonathan had two very good runs in his heat races to begin the night. His first heat race was the opening heat and he lined up in the 10th position. JA was up on the wheel and he drove the Ausdeck Patios & Roofing, Weld Racing No. 0 to a third place finish in the contest. Jonathan next hit the track in heat race number four and this time had a much better starting position as he went from the front row. JA took advantage of the great starting spot and drove away to win his second heat race of the USA Sprintcar season at Brisbane International.

Next up was the dash where Jonathan started from the sixth position. JA was able to make some ground up and moved forward to bring the Roadway Logistics, SEQ Fuels, Butler Built No. 0 home in third.

Starting from the inside of the second row Jonathan went on to win an action packed feature and picked up his first win of 2007. It was JA's first victory since picking up $10,000 in the Chowchilla 410 Shootout at Chowchilla Speedway last October.

The win gives Jonathan some nice momentum as he heads into the big week of World Series Sprintcars action at Brisbane International Speedway next week. JA and the Ausdeck Patios & Roofing team will take to the track on Wednesday night to do battle with the stars of WSS before getting a night off on Thursday and then coming back for two big night's of WSS competition on Friday and Saturday. The main event on Saturday night will be 50 laps and pays $20,000 to win.
