ASCS Sprint Cars Head Back To Cowtown Speedway NASCAR Weekend, April 5

4/1/08, Kennedale, TX, DarinShort.com. Saturday, April 5 marks the return of the ASCS Sprint Cars to Cowtown Speedway in the southeastern Ft. Worth suburb of Kennedale.

Held during NASCAR weekend at Texas Motor Speedway, you just never know who may show up to check out the high-banked ΒΌ mile speed plant. In 2006, Carl Edwards made a surprise entry in the ASCS sprint division and wowed fans with his winning drive in the B-feature and passing several cars in the championship event on his way to a 10th place finish.

One thing is guaranteed, and that is you will have a great time at the track, and races start a few hours after the scheduled conclusion of the NASCAR Nationwide Series event at TMS that day.

Fast Facts for the ASCS Sprint Car event at Cowtown Speedway, on Saturday April 5:

-Pit gates open at 5pm, pit entrance is $30. (Also allows you main grandstand access.)

-Spectator Grandstands open at 5pm; adult tickets are still just $15, with kids 6-11 $5, ages 3-5 $2. Tickets can be purchased online at the track website at no additional fee.

-Hot laps are at 6:30pm and the first race starts at 7pm.

-In 2006 there were 32 ASCS sprint cars that competed in the event and 43 ASCS teams pulled in the back gate for the 2007 show. Similar fields are expected this year. Five weekly track divisions will compete as well and generally the sprint car division's feature race in on the track by around 10pm.

-Current race day forecast is for 73 degrees and sunny, low of 51.

-For more track information, directions or to purchase tickets online, please visit CowtownSpeedway.com and click on the flashing 'ASCS' link. And for information on the ASCS Series, click ASCSRacing.com. If you'd like to see video highlights of last year's event, you can go to DarinShort.com then click on 'racing highlights.' See you this Saturday night at the Fastest Li'l Track in Texas, Cowtown Speedway!

Friday mid-day update:

The races for tonight (Go-Karts) and Saturday (ASCS Sprints) are both still on, as scheduled.

The track did receive rain yesterday, but not enough to cause any change to the weekend schedule. And here's the latest weather forecast:

Friday: partly cloudy, hi 65, lo 45.

Saturday: sunny, hi 72, lo 52, 10% precip.

It's sure to be an exciting weekend at Cowtown Speedway, hope to see you all there!

Sad that Waco got rained out. Hope all the racers still come to Cowtown. Can't wait, but I will. Reminder to those coming - racing starts at 7:00 and the stands fill up quick for an ASCS show.

carol14-

My guess is there will be 34 ASCS teams in the pits tonight - but you never know - 43 made this race in '07. Plus the weather looks about perfect, so that will help in all aspects.

I'll make sure to look you up over in corner 1!

PS: There are quite a few people taking advantage of purchasing their tickets on the track website, which is great. But please make sure if you are going to buy them that you do so by 4pm and that you print out your receipt and bring it with you to the track.
