They were finally able to get underway with the USA sprints in Brisbane after rain postponed the first couple attempts.

They use a two heat format at Brisbane rather than qualifying. Chico's Jonathan Allard got upside down in his first heat and finished fourth in his second heat which put him in the B-main. He then started 10th and finished fourth earning the final transfer into the main event. JA started dead last in the main event and drove forward to finish sixth.

Yuba City's Shain Matthews had a little better luck and scored finishes of second and third in his heats to give himself a third row starting spot for the dash. Shain got up to third in the dash and that's where he started for the main event. In the main Shain took the lead around lap 15 and led till lap 22 when he got together with a lap car and spun out while leading. He ended up finishing 10th after restarting.

Thanks to Shain for the update. Their next race is on January 1st at Brisbane and that's when Brent and Bud Kaeding are schedule to hit the track.

Racing underway in Brisbane for Jonathan Allard
By Gary Thomas

December 30, 2006...After two night's of cancellations due to inclement weather, mother nature was finally kind enough to give everyone a break and the USA Sprint Car Series was able to kick off on Friday night December 29 at Brisbane International Speedway in Brisbane, Aus.

Jonathan Allard and the rest of the competitors were ready to race on the day after Christmas but rain set in around the Brisbane area and track officials were forced to postpone the night's action to the following evening. When the rain kept up officials were forced to put the event off till Friday night December 29.

Sunny skies greeted everyone Friday night and the USA Sprint Cars hit the track. Brisbane Speedway utilizes a twin heat race format rather than using qualifying. Each driver runs two heat races apiece and accumulates points to determine where they line up for either the dash, B-main or A-main.

Jonathan’s first heat would be heat three and he started on the inside of the last row. The track was rough and tumble with ruts throughout and JA unfortunately got upside down in the heat and suffered a dnf. He came back in heat six and sat on the front row. This time it went a little better but he ended up dropping a couple spots and finished fourth which put him in the B-main.

The B-main saw Jonathan starting 10th and he would have his work cut out for him if he wanted to make it up to a top four transferring position. JA was up to the task, however, and he drove forward to score the fourth and final transfer spot into the feature.

Jonathan lined up way back in the 16th position for the A-main. Starting dead last JA found a groove to his liking and he carved his way through the field to earn a sixth place finish.

Jonathan Allard’s next scheduled race at Brisbane is on January 1st. To keep up with Jonathan down under visit www.allardmotorsports.com

Allard Motorsports would like to wish everybody a happy and safe New Year!
