Stephen Allard & Redi-Green Motorsports join forces for King of California run

By Gary Thomas

December 26, 2006... Veteran sprintcar driver Stephen Allard of Chico and Redi-Green Motorsports have teamed up and will make an assault on the Golden State Challenge King of California Series crown in 2007. The partnership re-unites a successful combination that won multiple races together in the 2004 & ‘05 seasons.

Allard joined Redi-Green Motorsports in 2004 and won a pair of Placerville Speedway point races before he & the team decided to step up to 410's and run for the GSC title in 2005. Early in the ‘05 season Allard was one of the hottest drivers on the west coast as he won two GSC races and led the GSC points going into the huge Dave Bradway Jr. Memorial weekend at Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico. Friday night of that weekend saw Allard win his third 410 race of the season and first at Silver Dollar. The following night at the Bradway Memorial it looked to be much of the same as he passed younger brother Jonathan to take the lead with 10 laps to go in the main event. Lady luck wasn’t with Allard or the team, however, as the radiator hose burst off of the 1k machine with just five laps left and unfortunately took away their shot at winning the Dave Bradway Jr. Memorial. What seemed to be going so well quickly turned into a nightmare as the team seemed to be snake bitten and suffered a rash of engine failures which forced them to park the car for the year after the Super Dirt Cup at Skagit in June.

This past season Allard drove a handful of cars and finished seventh in the GSC point standings even with missing four races. At the end of the year Allard wasn’t sure of he’d be able to run for the King of California title in ‘07, but with Redi-Green Motorsports needing a driver, it seemed like a natural fit. With the amount of success Allard had with Redi-Green Motorsports in ‘05 he’ll certainly be a strong contender next year as he tries to dethrone brother Jonathan and the potent Williams Motorsports team for the GSC King of California Series championship.

In addition to running with the Golden State Challenge Series for Redi-Green Motorsports, Allard will also be competing next year for the Silver Dollar Speedway track championship as he wheels the Skip Jones No. 1m on Friday night’s in Chico. It’s a great opportunity for Allard as he’ll be running for two great teams and has a shot at winning a pair of championships.

We’d like to wish everybody a Happy New Year!
