MYERSTOWN, PA - How quickly has the popularity of Rich "Toby" Tobias Jr.'s latest creation - the SpeedSTR Midget - grown?

Even NASCAR Sprint Cup personalities want them. After a recent test at N.C.¹s East Lincoln Speedway, New Jersey native and NASCAR Sprint Cup team owner Ray Evernham has decided to purchase two of the SpeedSTR Midgets. They¹ll be driven by Evernham himself, Erin Crocker, Kasey Kahne and Elliott Sadler when time and scheduling permit.

Ray and Erin both participated in the test and loved the cars,: Tobias said. It's high-speed, high-impact racing and they really enjoyed it.Also, Evernham stepped up with the purchase of a SpeedSTR Midget which he'll supply to National Slingshot Tour champion Billy Van Inwegen Jr. for the 2008 season. The 15-year-old will race as part of the Evernham Developmental program.

Among those already picking up SpeedSTR Midgets for 2008 are former big-block Modified and ARDC Midget driver Doug Rose, Modified racer Andy Burkhart,Limited Sprint standout Timmy Long and Slingshot graduate Steven Hicks. In a unique promotion, Tobias's Speedway Entertainment business will provide cars to top Northeast drivers to run in select events. Thos who have already agreed to take part are Brett Hearn, Fred Rahmer, Craig Von Dohren and Jeff Strunk.

"We will have cars to supply to top-name drivers at different tracks we visit," Tobias, who will drive a SpeedSTR in select events, offered. And we've already had tremendous interest from the drivers we have spoken with about racing a SpeedSTR. Last year, a similar promotion drew rave reviews at Penn-Can (Pa.) Speedway, when top Modified racers Brian Weaver and Mike Gular ran a match race in the SpeedSTRs. Weaver and Gular both would like another shot at wheeling a SpeedSTR in 2008.

Other SpeedSTR highlights will include in-car camera footage available for fan viewing from that night after the race at the Speedway Entertainment Trailer and a post-race pit parties and meet-and-greet autograph sessions for driver/fan interaction.

SpeedSTR Midgets are currently on sale from Speedway Entertainment for

$16,900. See updated news and information at www.SpeedSTR.biz

Why does the world need one more class of midgets? How is this any different from a real midget? It is certainly less expensive, so I assume it is a stock engine? Are they going to look as silly as the Focus midgets on any track bigger than a fifth?

I can't help it, I like the way the car looks!

Let the car stand on it's own. ALL RACE CARS ARE EXPENSIVE.

Of course it'll be slower than a midget, but probably not by much. BRING ONE TO THE CHILI BOWL!!!!!

I an suprised that the sprint car people have not adapted a tail of this design.

MUCH prettier, maybe more aero also.
