Stole this from the Racingone board but what were your personal favorite moments from this past year? Here are some of mine but there are so many I can't name them all, or remember them. :)
Jonathan Allard winning the Golden State Challenge Series championship and repeating as Dirt Cup champ.
Steve Kent sweeping the Calistoga Memorial Day weekend GSC races for the second time this decade.
Tim Kaeding getting the Steve Kinser ride and then winning 15 National Sprint Tour races.
TK winning the NST finale at Tulare from 13th and winning the Trophy Cup in the Rod Tiner 83.
Andy Forsberg winning the Civil War championship, the Silver Dollar Speedway track championship, the Civil War season finale at Placerville, the Silver Dollar Speedway tarck points season finale and the Pacific Sprint Fall Nationals.
Donny Schatz winning the World of Outlaws championship and finally winning the Knoxville Nationals.
Kyle Hirst winning the Mark Forni Memorial and pocketing $5,000.
Sean Becker winning the Dave Bradway Jr. Memorial at Silver Dollar Speedway.
Andy Gregg finishing runner-up to Andy Forsberg in the Civil War season finale at Placerville, then him saying he woulda won if I wouldn't have been at the race. lol
Robert Ballou fininshing 2nd at the Tribute to Gary Patterson and then the following weekend sweeping the Ocean/Placerville GSC double header.
Bud Kaeding winning the USAC Silver Crown Series championship, winning the GSC race in July at Ocean Speedway with a last turn pass and having a great top 10 run at the Gold Cup Race of Champions in September.
Jason Statler winning his first career race at Calistoga Speedway.
Watching Haud blast the cushion at the Gold Cup trying to track down Daryn Pittman the last couple laps for 50 grand.
Watching Haud blast the cushion at Trophy Cup winning the Saturday night A-main from 13th.
Brett Miller winning his first career race just after turning 17.
Seeing all my friends at the track each and every weekend.
Merry Christmas, Happy New Year and I'll see you all in 2007.

Not California or Dirt, but the atmosphere at the WMRA/NSRA show at South Sound the week after the loss of Fred Brownfield (Gray's Harbor was dark that weekend, in every sense of the word) and in the wake of Rory Prices untimely death earlier in the season was very, very special.

I have to agree with all that Gary said and I wanted to add that one of the best races this past season was the Placerville GSC race where Ballou and Allard were swapping between 1st and 2nd at each turn and Balllou just barely beat Allard. I have never seen a crowd soo excited and on their feet almost the whole main event. I would love to see that race on video and I really want to buy that 20th edition of Grove's DVD. There were soo many other great races including Bud's win at Ocean Speedway just passing Statler on the last turn. He was soo excited and it reminded me of how TK gets all excited when he wins. Like them or not, the Kaedings are a talented bunch of drivers along with many other CA drivers.
We have great drivers, tracks, fans, promoters, announcers, writers, and many other people that make sprint car racing a success. I had fun at every race last year with the exception of Bakersfield NST (if you were there you know what I'm talking about). Overall, I thought last year was a great season even though it was rain shortened. I know I went to the most races I have ever gone to in a season. I think we are very lucky in California that we have good quality sprint car racing we can go to for most of the season. I am already looking forward to next season and yes sprint car fans are a great bunch of people. I hope to see everyone at the GSC banquet and at future races!
Looking forward to the new Golden State King of the
West series schedule!

Jon Allard winning Dirt Cup for a second time. This was more special, in my eyes, as it came 24 hours after Fred Brownfield's death. Seeing how emotional Jon was, afterwards, both Friday & Saturday.....
Jay Cole (2006 Grays Harbor Raceway 360 spring champ) passing Kasey Kahne to win the Evergreen State Challenge during the Northern Sprint Tour speedweek in July, just over a month after Fred's death. Think Elma was pretty dark up until this race. Was incredibly emotional, in every sense of the word.
The NSRA/WMRA (pavement sprints), race nobby alluded to. 4 memorials that night (Rory Price, bro was @ Evergreen in Monroe, Washington, the night Rory passed away back in March, Fred, and 2 others), seeing a good chunk of the Elma guys there, including Jay Cole, track official Bob Valencia, Modified driver Randy Ward, and a few others. Nobby & Andrew too. "/

the race i remember the most was andy forsberg run at the civil war race at petaluma....andy spun on the opening lap of the b main, sending him to the rear on a really tricky race track but andy having no spins left drove just as he always does......no tippy toes.... just on it made the main and he went on to win the civil war championship
the quincy 410 show....cant forget jim richardsons tireless effort to get the race in with a really wet track..great heat races and main event.....
anytime TK ran in cali I was there he never dissapionts

I don't remember a darn thing. That's why I hang with Gary, he remembers everything.
Everyone talks about Haud at Trophy Cup. A race I missed naturally. I do have vague memories of a wedding that weekend...and passing out in the back seat of a Pontiac.
Actually I do have a lot of good memories of the 2006 season. Saw some awesome racing. The best memories though are of the people. Seeing friends here each week. Heading to Iowa and seeing my friends there. Friends who came to Cali for NST and the Gold Cup. And all the new ones I met this year.
Looking forward to 2007
