Heard on Beer Hill Gang tv last night that Pittman may have to race more as plans have changed and Zeb Wise is gonna have a full time 410 ride wonder whats up with the Heffner ride?.

They said maybe the Indy #71 for Pittman so is their no #72.

Wise said his deal almost done what could it be?

I am only speculating, and could be totally off base, but I think Pittman will return to the Heffner #72 and run most of the major races along with the big shows in Central Pa. There were rumors that Daryn would help Mike promote Selinsgrove Speedway as well.

The Heffner 72 is still a thing and the new driver is a big improvement on the previous full time occupant. He can win anywhere against anyone on any given night. Look for an announcement soon.

Shane and Daryn were both big improvements over the last full time driver. And that's no disrespect to R Smith, just the way it is.

i was looking for the heffner car up front after ryan smith got out of it.  i couldn't seem to find it.  maybe i was missing something.

there seems to be almost an arrogance around that team.  they got their midget into the chili bowl feature which is something to be proud of.  otherwise i haven't seen much out of a heffner car since i started going to races regularly 4 years ago.

Well, My above prediction was way off (as alot of racing rumors are most of the time) According to an article from Len Sammons in this week's AARN, Pittman and Heffner will not get together this year after a deal outside of racing fell through for Daryn. There was NO TRUTH to the Selinsgrove Speedway rumor and Tim Schaffer will run the Heffner #72 down in Florida to start the season.

Daryn Pittman and Greg Hodnett both had some terrific seasons in the 27. Greg had 11 wins in 2014 with a championship at Williams Grove and the overall Central Pa points title. In 2015 he had 18 wins and won both the Williams Grove and Overal PA titles again. In 2016 he had 23 wins and for the 3rd consecutive year was the Williams Grove and overall Central Pa champion. In 2017 they had 14 wins but no titles. They scored several wins against the WoO during that time span as well. Hell, 2018 was a "down" season by Hodnett standards with 6 wins but he still won a prelim at the Knoxville Nationals plus the speedweek title. He also lost the Port Royal championship at the last race due to a dash incident. All he had to do was start the feature but the car wouldn't fire and that handed the title to Logan Wagner. He also had the Williams Grove title and the overall Central Pa title all but locked up before his death as well. If you look at the stats, that's a pretty high standard that was set. Ryan is a good guy but he just flat out didn't perform up to that standard. That isn't arrogance, it's ambition. Mr. Heffner spares no expense and he expects results. One 410 win and a couple 360 wins over 2 years isn't gonna cut it. He gave Ryan 2 years to figure it out and it didn't happen.

Well to be fair, the first season all of the equipment was pretty much recycled Hodntt stuff as the deal came together soo late and Heffner didn;t want to buy new stuff. Obviously Ryan got hurt then as well. The following season they finally switched to X-1 to go all in on the deal with Ryan and obviously Covid haulted a lot of racing and he was out by mid-way. Ryan didn't perform to the standards. But circumstances made it harder for sure

No question about it now.... Shaffer will be a member of the Posse.  Glad to see him in that ride and wish them the best.

better post than what we started out with.  i didn't see a reason to take a shot at ryan.  announce a new driver without the comment about having a driver that can actually win.  you could argue it didn't work out from either perspective and hopefully they'll both be better of for it.

Schaffer can still get it done. Let's hope there's a good crew chief in place.

Stinks about the Pittman deal falling through. The guy wants to spend more time with family and all the good rides had drivers in place long ago. Be a good fit in the indy 71 and swindell 39

Try reading it again. I said "a driver who can win anywhere against anyone." I didn't say "a driver who can actually win" or anything even resembling that. I also said it would be a big improvement on the previous full time occupant and it is. Tim Shaffer is a Hall of Famer with 27 career WoO wins, 66 career ASCoC wins, 4 ASCoC championships, 2 time Don Martin Memorial winner, 2018 Dirt Classic winner, 2018 sprint car world championship winner and most importantly the winner of the 2010 Knoxville Nationals. That's not taking a shot at Ryan, that's just stating a non debatable fact. In his 410 career Ryan has won a few races. 6 or 7 career All Star wins, a WoO win at Port, 1 win each at Lincoln & Williams Grove, he's won at New Egypt at least once, won the Selinsgrove National Open in 2018. He's done better than a lot of drivers have.......but he's definitely no Tim Shaffer.

Ryan's a good racer. Beat the WOO at Port Royal in the #94. Did well with the all-stars in several different cars, won the Selinsgrove 410 Open in the #11. Just because he didn't gel with the Heffner team doesn't mean he can't drive. Lance didn't do well in that car either, lasted only a year. I think Ryan getting injured and missing a few months in 2019 didn't help either. Hope he gets another good ride.
