Talking to a few traveling teams in the pits last night and they were saying racing in New York has been stopped and Ohio and Pennsylvania are gonna have races stopped in the very near future. Does this seem to be what is in the process of happening in those states?

Do you see any thing that is the same in all of those States?  they are DEMOCRATS in charge and they will do anything to keep the economies of those States DOWN.  Cuomo is being Sued by 8 Tracks, Wolf has is being Sued by numerous people and industries.  They want total control of everything and are trying day in and day out to achieve that.  Fuck Them and their Communist agendas keep racing and keep defying these commies.

But burning down a city with thousands of protestors is just fine they are peaceful and cant spread this so called life threatening Virus.  I say FUCK YOU and keep racing

This election is the most important election in the history of the US.  It has come down to Democracy or Communism, I for one want Democracy and I will fight to the Death against thes Commie bastards that want to control every aspect of my life.

... and if Port Royal closes Strawser and WingedSpeed would have no reason to get on here and cry any more and their fan club would be heartbroken.....

Well either they have a crystal ball or they know something that those of us in Pa don't.  There has been no talk of being shut down but who the hell knows with this POS governor we have.

In another thread I mentioned the Venn diagram of "dirt track fans" and "people who think everything is a conspiracy"  is almost a perfect circle. Thank you for helping to prove my thesis, Champ.

"It has come down to Democracy or Communism." Really? Lighten up, Francis. You are seriously wound waaaay too tight.

yeah...they've been allowed to race for 2 months while following none of the cdc/governor's orders.  people are going to believe what they want to believe.  i've been in touch with the department of health and state police.  nobody gets back to me.  if anything...there is a conspiracy to keep these tracks open since they've so blatantly ignored all the guidelines.

Some tracks in Ohio have either "postponed" or cancelled races. I am not sure what the exact procedure is at Attica right now but I did see an update last week that they were either were not doing General Admission or Grandstand tickets but were doing Pit Passes. I did not read the full update as I was busy that day so I am not sure if you can buy a pit pass and go into the grandstands or not like a majority of the people were doing at the Brad Doty Classic. The Outlaw race that was originally scheduled for 7/31 that was announced at the BDC was cancelled and moved to Wayne County Speedway, and if the Wayne County race went on with how the grandstands looked, it most likely would have been given the same fate as well by the end of this week.

Portsmouth Speedway announced yesterday it was having a race here in the future but limiting seating. Of course they did this for the Dean Knittle Memorial for All Star Speedweek but people were still buying pit passes and coming to the grandstand and sitting where they had roped off or caution taped seats. I have no problem with that as I am not going to be one who will call the health department on anyone, but the tracks have to know that one way or another someone is going to see picture of it or a concerned local will call into the the health department and the next thing you know sanctions are put on the track. I'm sure this thread will get turned political, oh wait it already has but, I would point out at least for Ohio we are a Red State with a GOP Governor, and the areas that have had these race tracks are Red Counties so the whole its this party or that party really does not really hold too much weight. We all know that if you are for one party then you are going to blame the other party no matter what so it would be nice to have a thread that did not go the way where the same people state their politcal view as if we do not know it already. We all know by now who is for what party and everyone has that right.

Gov. and Health Secretary here in Pa have mandated use of masks when outside of your house. Last race I attended in person was @ the Grove in June. I say 2 people wearing masks. Have been watching Pa races on Flo and have noticed few if any fans wearing masks. Governor has not enforced his edict yet. Could be that the areas the tracks are located in have not become "hot spots".

# of positive cases today dropped from previous days with 0 deaths reported in the Commonwealth. Haven't heard any talk of shutting down dirt tracks.

I have been to seven races since the reopening and have seen minimal mask wearing. Whatever. I haven't worn a mask, but I do keep it with me just in case someome who sits next to me would want me to wear one. Its not that big of a deal.

Wolf has also said he'd leave enforcement of regulations to local entities. So, I don't think you'll see any interference.

Let me state one thing that is undeniably TRUE. The Coronavirus does not belong to either the democratic or republican party & it has no preferance as to who it infects or kills. Heeding health guidlines is simply a matter of civility & respect for your fellow human being. If you have large gatherings & people are not heeding those guidelines, then in approx. 2 to 3 weeks you can expect a BIG SPIKE of infections...PERIOD. It has been true throughout the entire US & will continue to be so. Knoxville Raceway has done their shows the right way & hence the lack of spikes related to them.

There was all kinds of talk of new rules coming out in Pa. last Friday and nothing happened. I am not sure why the people on this board insist on bending over and inviting someone to kick them in the ass. How about leaving it alone instead of asking for trouble. As for the guy who seems to be reporting everything that he disagrees with to the health dept. and Police I wish he would bend over so we could all kick him in the ass.

Lets say a spike is possible not a sure thing. Juniata County Pa. has 127 total cases. (and personally know of a couple the turned to not be covid 19) Port Royal has been racing for eight weeks. And the site of many of the largest crowds. There have been very few new cases in that time and most of them have been in the Amish community and they didn't get it at the races. This is just facts. No politics or conspiracies.

I gotta be honest, that's been confusing to me as well. I've been waiting to see a flare up in central PA considering we've been running for months and there are numerous senior citizens that go to the track consistently. Speedweek saw huge crowds, the Outlaws were here to large crowds, the Weikert shows at Port also had large crowds, and yet.... nothing really has popped up. These races took place and considering the incubation period that has been described you'd think we be seeing/hearing something.

I'm not asking these questions in a sarcastic way. I'm legitimately wondering because it's obvious that this is a very real thing. Is it because we're outside? Are we just lucky? Have people gotten it, but just been asymptomatic? I have no idea.

Contrary to thoughts of some I for instance have worked every day since this started. Other than not weraing a mask other  than when I go into a store where it is mandatory, I just don't do stupid things to try to get any virus. I think most race fans don't go out of thier way to have close contact with people other than family and others with whom they are in contact with in their normal life. I keep my distance from people with whom I have no reason to be close to. Some of the common sence things like hand sanitizers. We have the cleanest computer keyboards and such at work that we have ever had. You don't have to be totally crazy about things to greatly reduce your risks. I had a mask on for about a half hour twice this past weekend and that is the most that I have worn one yet. Keep in mind that I live in a rural area and don't have much close contact at work any time. I have not lost any sleep worrying about this yet.

I'm not going to disagree with you that things have become politically driven. Im also not going to disagree that some governors have gone a little overboard on their closures and executive orders.  But why not the same outrage by everyone about all of the other laws violating our freedom?

1.  Seat belts are required in 49 of 50 states.  To me, this is the biggest violation of our freedom of any law in the entire country. (In Illinois it was 1985)

2.  The majority of states have some sore of helmet law for motorcycles with a lot of states requiring helmets for all riders.   Once again, I find this to be a huge violation of our freedoms.

3.  During the smallpox epidemic, our ancestors were forced to be vaccinated, many against their will

4.  2.2 million soldiers were drafted to fight in vietnam----many of those 2.2 million were drafted against their will.  Unlike WWII, a large percentage of those drafted did not believe in what we were fighting for in Vietnam.

5.  Prostitution was banned in 1910

6.  Alcohol was banned from 1920-1933

7.  Oral and anal sex were illegal for decades in many states-----something you did in your own bedroom

8.  Quarantines have been going on for centuries in this country.  Shutdowns have been going on for centuries in this country.  In our history, our military has stood guard at cities across the country not allowing infected to leave or enter.  (see Spanish flu and Yellow fever)

9.  All states have speed limits------who are they to tell me how fast I can go?  If the road seems unsafe with everyone driving fast, stay off it, right?

I could go on and on and on.

My point is, none of what is going on is unprecedented.  None.  As I stated with numbers 1 and 2, I think the seat belt law and helmet laws are the biggest violation of personal freedoms I have witnessed in my life.  Being asked to wear a mask and social distance does not even bother me in the least.  I'll be glad when it's over.  I don't wear the mask anywhere but where it's required---like work, Menards, the grocery store, the DMV---but I have absolutely no problem putting it on where required.  I don't feel violated.  Tracks closing and my kid's high school sports being cancelled pisses me off.  But, at the same time, I'm just glad my graduating senior only lost sports----and is not heading off to fight in WWII or Vietnam.  I think we need to start putting things in perspective here.

So, this election is as big, and no bigger, than any other election this country has ever seen.  We've had Democratic presidents before, and we will have another whether Trump is elected again or not.  Nothing's going to change.  The views of the parties remain the views of the parties.  Laws are going to be made to give us more freedoms, and laws are going to be made to take them away----like they have since 1787.

I hate the decision to close tracks.  I'm keeping my fingers crossed that The One and Only happens in 10 days.  If it's shut down for Covid, I'll be pissed.  However, I'm not going to keep following everyone down the rabit hole thinking this is the end of the free world.  You're all going to be fine.  You've been getting decisions made for you since the Constitution was written.

Now this actually makes a lot of sense. I have worked everyday too although we were forced to work from home for 3mo, and since have taken everyother week shifts at the office. I wear a mask if I am indoors like the grocery or any other store where I will be in close contact but if I am outside or just going on about my business. I do however as my friends say seem to be a magnet for people to sit either next to me or directly behind me at the racetrack even though there are plenty of seats in the section that we are. Right now its just become a joke with them where we all start laughing each time then I turn to them and say I swear you pay these assholes to do this. I have worn a mask at the 8races I have attended so far just because it doesn't bother me, and I carry hand sanitizer in the car which I use to minimize everything which isn't a life changer. A lot has not changed during this for me other than not being able to go to the track as often as I used to but then again, 8races is basically on par to what I get to at this point of the year, just had to bunch them into a smaller timeframe. I live in a suburban/urban type area with people all around but I have found it easy to stay away from most which isn't hard to do as if I have no business with anyone, I do not have any reason to be around them.

That is strange. You'd think the Amish would be the most socially isolated group

Maybe race fans got lucky cause nobody traveled to hotspots? If yo don't have it, you can't infect anyone
