What are you guys thinking of the new game? I don't have an Xbox or a PS4 but could always upgrade the PS3 just so I can get the game. Also available on PC so there is always that. Is it worth it? How extensive is the career mode?

And yes I know IRACING puts everything to shame but I am not set up to run IRACING and don't like the thought of monthly costs and paying individually for cars, tracks, etc. I want something I can play a cpu on career mode when ever I want not dependent on internet connection with no additional costs down the road. Truthfully just make Dirt Track Racing Sprint Cars for PC again by Ratbag in the early 2000s again and I'd be ok with that!

its been quite enjoyable so far. i have only put about 4 hours into the game. the career mode wants you to start in TQs then move to 305nw then 410w, i personally chose custom career and went straight to 410w. playing on normal mode short races. i have not done any online racing.

the format for the races ive participated in is: 60 min hot laps (bonus $ if you get to a particular lap time set for you). 2 lap quals. 2 lap heats (because of short race mode) and 10 lap features (also because of short mode).

there is 4-8 different types of upgrades per category, all at different pricing.

meaning for shocks:

i have 6 different shock options at the 1 star level, then 6 or so options at the 2 star level and then 6 or so for the 3 star level.

same goes for chassis, motor, wings, tires, and then shocks.

when you sign a sponsorship you get X amount as a signing bonus then X per event.

theres additional challenges within your sponsor ship to get additoinal funds for finishing of the events.

ex: score 3 top 20s within 4 races. for $15,000. etc...

theres 25 different tracks all made for the game, ive played 11. all different shapes, sizes, and banking,

all in all, pretty fun and pretty difficult to be fast.

i have played: ps2 woo 2002, pc version of that, dtrsc on pc, both of tonys previous ps2 games, woo2010 on xbox360, iracing,

this is definitely a video game, dont expect it to be iracing by any means but i thought it was more fun immediately that the 360 game that came out 10 years ago. and a ton more fun than the other 2 games tony liscenced road to knoxville, and showdown at eldora. but i still think the 2002 game on ps2 is more fun. but ive also invensted countless days playing that one.

for this game i bougtht the xbox one s all digital edition on amazon for $175 and then $30 for the game

That's an excellent analysi. I appreciate it.

60 min hot laps? Surely you don't use the entire hour and can opt out at any time or it's a typo.

Just one series per class of race car I expect? I loved the DTRSC for pc that had 15 different series leading up to the WOO SUPPORT and finally the WOO. You could race as many in each series as you wanted as long as the races weren't on the same date and had to go in order for the year. It was fun making an outlaw schedule of track you enjoyed.

Can the difficulty be adjusted at all in career mode or arcade mode? I really disliked ps3 latest outlaw game having a one season deal that the difficulty went from easy to harder late in the season with essentially no way to repeat the series without the same easy to hard progression. Seems silly and I find myself just playing arcade mode since the career mode is so limiting.

I'd love to hear others. PS4 is around 200 buck. Pretty painless investment for something I just want to play random evenings especially through the winter months.

60m hot laps is not a typo as soon as you get to the time mark set for you it asks you to advance, or you can advance when youd like without gettting the financial bonus.

its only one series unlike dtrsc was, its like 37 events long at the 25 tracks.

There's a PC version?  Has anyone tried running the PC version in Linux on the Wine compatibility layer?  All my boxes run on Linux distros and buying a gaming system wouldn't make any sense.

It says available on Steam February 21st. Not sure if it'll work on Linux or not. Hope it does for your sake!

No worries.  At 68 my reflexes couldnt save me from a fast turtle.  It would probably be a waste of time and money as I don't play any games.  I used to have the old Ratbag Sprints and NASCAR on PC when I was still running Windows and sucked at both.

I did some research and found out that an online game platform called Steam has builds for all of the major Linux distributions in case there are any other Linux geeks on here.

I have a week under my belt now and am pleasantly suprised. It's not as good as iRacing, from what little I've played with that.

I have done a few quick races in a 410 sprint, and it was more challenging than I hand anticipated, which I liked. For those on twitter stating Ratbag, can only be going off of nostaligia.

Currently I'm in career mode, where you earn money from races, sponsors, and milestones such as finishing top 20 3 times in 4 total races. You have to spend your money on upgrades and repairs.

I have the difficulty set at max, or slightly below max. In career mode, starting off with what you have as far as equipment, you should not be winning or coming close.

You can upgrade tires, shocks, chassis and engine, however not components within each one of those. With in practice , heats, and features you can do quite a few of adjustments on your set up.

The game flow, and menus are good. Sound is good.

The physics are okay. I don't feel a cushion. It's more about finding a smooth fast line around the track and trying to do that around cars, and not about finding another faster line, such as the cushion. The game isn't gas to the floor non stop, especially in the 410's.

I love the game, but my only gripe is not feeling the different grooves.

When I mentioned Ratbag it wasn't out of nostalgia.  I was still running my racing website and doing photography and writing so they comped me a copy pre release for evaluation and feedback.  I was already in my early 50's and was not a gamer but I accepted the offer.

My intent mentioning Ratbag's version and a 2000's NASCAR game were to illustrate how long it's been since J have even attempted to play a game.  I might consider messing around with this new game but at my age I'd suck at it.  I have no nostalgia for any video game racing or otherwise because gaming isn't my thing.

I gotta be honest it looks terrible. No I haven't played it but going off the gameplay videos I think I'll pass. I dont understand why even make a game if you don't/can't use real tracks. And its sounds nothing like a sprint car or amidget. I'm guessing Tony sat down and played it before it was released, and why he let it get released, is beyond me. I hate being a negative Nancy but why do something half ass?

There must have been an issue with using actual track names, maybe a licensing and fee involved that was beyond their budget.  I don't know exactly how that works but there must be a cost involved.  Also wondering if another game has negotiated exclusive gaming rights with tracks?

Stan,

My intentions were not to state that you personally were going off nestalgia, as I loved the game as well. I've just seen some tweets that stated it.

And to the previous comment. The video's don't do the game justice in terms of game play. I had the same thought that the video's make the game look bad.

I can tell you though most of the time at least in the midgets and 305 wingless sprints, there's not too much counter steering, the car is tight at least with the recommended settings, even if you adjust the tight to loose settings.

Once upon a time, when I was younger, I was a gamer, played different games, including racing.
Only if I have a chance to become a successful streamer at the present time, due to strong competition?

You can use top4smm to promote your YouTube channel and videos, even if you're posting streaming videos there. Make sure your videos are entertaining enough. Feel free to share your streams on other social media like Telegram, Instagram, Tik Tok. Take care of a good audio stream, if you are going to talk on your streams, I recommend Shure SM7B microphone. So the only way to know is to try it out.

I didn't mean to imply that you were experiencing severe nostalgia because I too enjoyed the game. It was simply mentioned in a few tweets that I saw.
