There's been a recent uptick in spammers on this forum and probably the best way to keep them from posting waves of messages is to not click their post.

If their posts don't get reads, they'll hopefully move on somewhere else. I know it's very tempting to reply to them and tell them to move on...but I think ignoring them might be the best course of action.

I've removed several of them recently - and I try to check in to this forum 3-4 times a day.

But don't hesitate to send out an email to a moderator if one pops up so it can be zapped quicker.

Have a great 2020 season everyone!

Thanks Dmantx,

I also check it 3 - 4 times a day and delete those non relevant postings ASAP. As Admis I have been told that eventually with a planned upgrade to this forum we will be able to block those spammers as well.

See you at the Lincoln "Icebreaker" !

As someone who has moderated a couple of forums in the past I'd add:

Do not reply at all, simply e-mail one of the moderators shown at the top of the screen.
Moderators aren't clairvoyant. Tell them which thread/which poster/etc
Moderators don't tend to eyeball every thread every day. Don't expect them to catch things if they aren't told.
Trolls get their jollies trying to get folks worked up. If they can't get anything started they usually move on.
Until it settles down, usually the only thing moderators can do is play whack-a-mole with the troll. Be patient.
Do not start a new thread about trolls. That gives them the attention they crave.
Be proactive. Start a sprint car thread so awesome that everybody overlooks the troll bait.
Thank your moderators. They have to do a thankless job for free.

Every time I try to send e-mail to the moderator, it is returned as undeliverable.

I got an admin email today at 10:15am from [email protected]. Actual contact info hidden by the xxxs, and one previouisly at 9:50 am from dsxxx@gmail. So the alerts do work.

Thanks actual hoseheads users for not replying to the latest spam posts so the 'user' could be emailed and their post pulled down.

I was jammed this morning and just saw it. The bug is zapped.

If we collectively don't reply to their posts, maybe they'll go bother someone else.
