Suprised to see only 33 cars at Atomac tonight with all the Ohio cars thought they would have at least 40.

No Tim Shaffer heard he was running the #1 again this weekend.

How many went to Canada for the 360 Nationals?

With A chance of rain Saturday at Selinsgrove maybe they should wait till Sunday I am sure some would make the 7 hour trip.

Plenty of Atomic locals here tonight, but it's a long trip for the northern Ohio regulars to make on a Thursday.  I was worried if they'd even get enough for a B-Main, so I'm pleased they got 33.  Friday and Saturday counts should be higher.  Remember this is a make up event for what happened during Ohio Speedweek.  Been on the schedule for a while now but that doesn't mean everyone in Ohio will automatically show up.

And I have only one thing to say....

Here's an idea - buy your own track and prepare the surface as you see fit. It was sunny and 94 here yesterday. No track is going to hold mositure in those conditions.

Give us a break.

There is not an excuse for those track conditions with them starting at the time they started.  Track never had the moisture in it, so how can it hold something it never had?   Track pretty much junk all night long.  That is the only break I will give them....the truth!

Here is an idea, if every hosehead poster who is tired of others whining over track prep gave $20 to rent a track and host a show with the surface prepped solely by the poster who comments about others failing the most, we could buy Husets and hire THAT GUY to prep the surface. The inaugural race could be the BAD TRACK PREP MEMORIAL, fitting since we will never be able to see another bad track. Drivers and fans from all over the US would move to SD permanently to experience oval heaven on earth.

Yeah Straswer you are quite abrasive and in general just a trouble maker and troller, doesn't your family give you much attention? Maybe thats why you have to lash out and bitch on a public forum. You are just like other people that have been on here for years, just cry babies that never got much attention as children so you try to get your attention behind the safety of your keyboard.. I would hate to believe you  might be related to the Stawser who does the wonderful videos of early PA sprint car racing.

 Do you ever physically attend a race or just watch everything on a tube? On a positive side, you can be entertaining once in a while.

I actually didn't think the track prep was that bad last night, but I'm also comparing it to the other times I've attended where multiple classes ran and the track was black and slick.  The main thing I noticed was the roughness in the turns.  They really need to work on that with the speed those banked corners generate.

Oh, and I forgot to mention for the Ford faithful...Stewart had the Ford in the car last night.  Would have walked the dog in his heat race if it weren't for a yellow but that was about it.  Don't think he would have finished much different with a standard Chevy-based engine.

The truth is somebody, somewhere has "wronged" you somehow at some track (and I have a pretty good idea where) apparently, and now you take it out on others

If racing makes you so miserable, find something else to follow.

Put up or shut up - run your own track and prepare it as you see fit, or shut the xxxx up. Enough.

Strawser is obviously polarizing on the board but the All Stars tweeted a video of the start of the A Main last night and by the end of lap 1 it was hard to see the cars because it was so dusty. 

That is unacceptable.

I'm curious to know...for those of you who think the track prep was bad, where are you located in the US?  Legit question here.  The reason I ask is that the track compositions range a lot from place to place.  The clay and dirt we have in southern Ohio tends to turn out like what you saw last night.  Knoxville and 34 Raceway are both black dirt and don't get the same way as far as dust.  Not saying the Ohio tracks can't do better, but maybe Ohio is just hampered by the surface that's available.

This race will be terribly boring if you let Strawser prep the track. He hasn't actually seen a sprint car race in person since 1986 and has no understanding of the modern shock and rule packages on 410's. The track record would be beoken by 3 seconds un hotlaps, but it would be a tacky, single file freight train with no passing all night. Strawser would be the only happy fan in attendance because he got to see sprint cars go really fast. 

As you know I have probably been the one who has been the most critical of Atomic on here. Having said that the one thing that I have not been critical on is the racetrack itself, although it would be nice if like JakeB said the entry to the turns could be smoothed out. Typically the racing on the track is good to great depending on the weather conditions. Watching just the highlights I really did not see a problem with the track itself and it looked racy. My buddy who lives down that way used his ticket from the speedweek show to get in & had no issue with the race itself.

I did notice during speedweek on Facebook the amount of people complaining about how "dusty" the tracks were around here. Multiple times people said "do any Ohio tracks do any track prep!?" I would often reply it is just the nature of the clay/dirt we have here. I have been to Attica, Lima, and Eldora prior to the show beginning and have watched them dump truckloads of water on the track prior to an event starting and 1st heat race happens & the dust goes up. Attica earlier this year during speedweek they put water on the track, 1st lap, dust. Its really not that bad if you are at the race itself and I really don't like locked down freight train races on the cushion.

Strawser is just like that kid in the neighborhood that if you did not play a game by his rules exactly then he would throw a fit, take his ball in go home. Everyone else would just get another ball and start playing the game again having a lot more fun.

I’ll have to take your word for it, as the dust was so bad I couldn’t see it. 

With Shaffer in the 14 tonight we should see how that ford is running

When we did track prep in the 80s in Winnipeg and Karl Kinser came with the Outlaws he mentioned putting soap powder in the water truck..Claimed it helped hold the moisture..It did,sometimes too much..We hardly ever had a dry dusty track..Just a thought..

We used tide liquid soap, put a nice blue ting kn the tires but sure kept the dust down. Worked great. Also in Canada eh.
