BRENT SEXTON RETURNS TO JOIN HIS SONS AT BAKERSFIELD LIGHTNING SPRINT CAR RACE!

(Lakeside, CA, April 18, 2019) After missing the last race, two-time series champion Brent Sexton will return to action when the POWRi California Lightning Sprint Car Series returns to the Bakersfield Speedway this Saturday night, April 20th.  As usual, Sexton will be in action along with his two teenage sons Grant and Dalton.

Saturday’s race will be the second of five at the Kern County clay oval for the CLS in 2019.  Last month at the season opener, 16-year-old Dalton placed 10th in the main and 14-year-old Grant came home 19th.  Brent had fuel pump problems on the night and did not get out of the B-main.

At the CLS last race two weeks ago at the Barona Speedway, the teenage siblings were off to a good start in the main before disaster struck.  Grant was running fourth on lap six when he hit a rut in turn four and broke a radius rod knocking him out of the race.  Dalton ran in the top five all race before getting pushed into the wall and out of action in the late going.

Earlier in the show, both boys qualified in the top 10 in the tough 28-car field.  Grant was sixth fastest qualifier and Dalton was ninth.  They followed up those impressive times with third-place finishes in their respective heat races.

Family patriarch Brent sat out the Barona race, but NASCAR Truck Series regular Sheldon Creed drove one of the Lakeside, California based Sexton/Gatlin cars to a third-place finish.

Heading into this weekend’s race at the “Okie Bowl,” Dalton is 10th in the championship standings, Grant is 17th and Brent is 28th.

In addition to the POWRi California Lightning Sprint Cars, the Western Pro Stocks, Sport Mods and Dwarf Cars will also be in action on Saturday.   Spectator gates will open at 5:00 P.M. and the first race will take the green flag at 7:00.

Fans who would like to watch the Sextons race in person on Saturday can find the Bakersfield Speedway at 5001 N. Chester Ext., in Bakersfield (93308).  The track website is http://www.bakersfieldspeedway.com/ and the office phone number is (661) 393-3373.
