BACK FROM INDIANA, ROA HEADS TO SANTA MARIA SATURDAY!

(Cypress, CA, August 2, 2018) Fresh off a grueling seven races in nine days stint at Indiana Sprint Week, Brody Roa will continue his pursuit of the 2018 USAC/CRA Sprint Car championship this Saturday night, August 4th, at the Santa Maria Raceway.

Saturday’s race will take Roa back to the scene of his latest triumph in the USAC/CRA Series on July 7th.  Dating back to last year, in his last three USAC/CRA starts at Santa Maria, Roa has two wins and a second-place finish.  After briefly slipping back to third in the 2018 championship standings, the Garden Grove, California racer has re-established himself in second and is only 31-points out of the top spot.

In the seven race Indiana Sprint Week series, Roa qualified for four of the seven main events with a best finish of ninth at the Lawrenceburg Speedway.  In all four of the main events, he moved forward from his original starting spot.  A summary of Roa’s results from Indiana Sprint Week follows.

Plymouth Speedway, July 20th: Qualified 22nd fastest out of 37 cars.  Fifth in his heat race.  Started 10th in the B Main.  Drove into the sixth and final transfer spot coming off turn four on the final lap.  Started the A main in 18th and moved forward for a 10th place finish.

Lawrenceburg Speedway, July 22nd: Turned in the 12th fastest time of the 42 cars on hand.  Started outside the second row in his heat, but clipped a rut in turn one on the first lap and dropped back to sixth.  Moved up to fifth which was one spot shy of the final transfer.  Started and finished fifth in the B Main.  Finished 9th in the A Main after starting 10th.

Kokomo Speedway, July 24th: Qualified 20th of the 37 cars on hand and finished third in his heat race to earn his ticket directly into the main event.  In the main event, he started on the outside of the eighth row in 16th and ended up finishing 14th.

Terre Haute Action Track, July 25: Timed in 33rd out of 42 cars.  Started ninth and finished seventh in his heat race.  Had to start 18th in the B Main.  Came all the way to seventh and was charging, but time ran out a lap early keeping him from the final transfer spot.

Lincoln Park Speedway, July 26: Qualified 24th fastest of 47 cars.  Took second in his heat race for a direct transfer to the main on the tight Indiana clay oval.  He had to start back in the 18th spot, but like his first three Sprint Week mains, he moved forward and when the checkered flag waved, he came across the line in 10th.

Bloomington Speedway, July 27: Qualified 32nd of the 40 cars on hand and was forced to race in the C Main.  Starting on the outside of the front row in the C, he initially dropped back to third, spent most of the race in second before taking the lead on the last lap for the win.  He had to start 17th in the B main and was charging.  He got all the way to ninth, but ran out of laps and was forced to miss the A main.

Tri State Speedway, July 28: The last night of Indiana Sprint Week and the ninth-fastest time in qualifying out of 42 cars started things off on the right foot.  A fourth-place starting spot in the heat race looked great, but halfway through a broken driveline put him out of the race and into the B main.  Starting near the back of the B main, he was able to pick off a handful of cars and finished 15th to end his 2018 Indiana Sprint Week effort.

Brody Roa t-shirts and caps will be available in the pits this Saturday night at Santa Maria.  They are also available from the team’s website at the following link http://www.brodyroa.com/.  The cost is $20.00 plus shipping.
